General Hospital Spoilers – 3-Month Job Becomes Longer
GH spoilers reveal that in the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, Kober discusses his time on the ABC soap. He explained that playing Cyrus was supposed to be a job for three months. Then, it got extended to a year-and-a-half, with a few months off due to the COVID-19 production shutdown.
GH Spoilers – Making Character Complex
When Cyrus first arrived in Port Charles, he was a straight-up soap villain. However, every character has become the way they are for a reason. This includes villains and Kober enjoyed how they used that information to give Cyrus his weaknesses. People are complex and multi-layered. Kober was impressed that fans were immediately able to pick up on Cyrus’ family drama and mother issues.
General Hospital Spoilers – Special Message To Fans
General Hospital spoilers reveal that Kober mentioned he has a brand new appreciation for the soap genre. He explained how appreciative he is that he was allowed to make the character his own. He also has a special message to fans,
“Thank you for hating me in such a lovely fashion! And for watching closely enough that when we found out I had mother issues, it made it harder for you to hate me.”
GH Spoilers – What If Cyrus Renault Returns?
As soap fans know, villains have a tendency to return. While this hasn’t been confirmed for Cyrus, what if that were to happen? Kober teased both love and revenge, particularly when it comes to his half-sister. The family dynamic was really complicated, but Laura Collins (Genie Francis) tried to use it to save Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Trina Robinson (Sydney Makayla).
General Hospital Spoilers – “Those final scenes between me and Genie, I think, were next level for me because we really went there. He would not ever forget that she turned her back on him — and he would find a way to make her pay for that. And if he could get her to love him along the way, that would still be something he would like, too!”
What did you think of Kober playing the villain? Did his storyline go the way you predicted it would or were there some surprises? Do you think Cyrus will end up returning at some point in the future and if so, what do you think will happen? Keep watching the ABC soap to find out what could happen next.

I do not want Cyrus to return ever. I am glad that he is gone.
I also do Not want Cyrus back ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm also glad he's gone wont be worth wile watching if Cyrus come back boo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why have new characters when we could have Lulu … Luke.. Lucky .. Ethan Lovett ..Spencer… Rick Lansing.. Johnny Zechariah.. Holly etc back on the show.
I love Cyrus. He plays a good part and brings suspense to the show
I was so wanting Laura to go to him and put her arms around him and tell him she would help him . They could have had him committed and Kevin treat him. Accidentally killing his father and being rejected by his family was traumatic. I hated to see him break down and Laura be so cold. Hated to see him leave, such a good actor.
Very much agree about so many new characters. but when you finally get one that can make you hate him and also root for his redemption it is great. Not crazy about how they end things and also seems so convoluted. Would love for Lucky to come back! I do believe they will bring LuLu back.
I think the Cyrus episodes should be over! Love the actor, dont like his agenda!
I agree Donna. And like Regina said, you loved to hate him yet kept your fingers crossed for his redemption! I hope he comes back at some point.
Love Jeff Kober! He played his part with a tenderness no other villain has before. I do hope he comes back; not to hurt Laura but to see if a family could be forged out of this sorry mess he had made of his life. He was looking for acceptance and was going about it with hurt and anger instead of sugar and honey. Jeff could play any part equally well and I for one would believe his story! He is an exceptional actor and we need more of him on screen!
Leave him GONE❗️
Jeff Kober is great at playing villains. He's played them on "Walker, Texas Ranger," and most recently on the BCE crime drama about the FBI profilers (name escapes) and I saw him on other show both him on others before and between. He was good in this role and the moppish gray, unkept hair, unkempt helped buy into the unhinged, lunatic story. Having that familial bond to Michael Knight and Laura Collins, wife of psychiatrist and mayor of the city, it makes for good drama. Having said that, it would have to be a long time before he could return….especially to have it be believable. It is not that easy to get out of a Federal Penitentiary. He's where he needs to be for quite a white a while. His melt down with the sloppy hair and crying proved what a danger he truly is. Please, if you are planning a return, give us a break…..with the virus, quarantine and his dirty deeds…..keep it for several years. Kudos to his imitation of a Norman Bates and his 'mother' fixation.
