General Hospital Spoilers suggest the character of Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) could cease to exist soon as the actor who has carried the role since 2019 makes his exit.

Fans have been pretty split on what they hope to see happen next, but it’s clear few of them agree with a recast unless Tyler Christopher comes back to reprise his version of Nik. Otherwise, they’d rather see the character go on hiatus until such a time that Tyler is back on board. Talk about brand loyalty! So, if Marcus is leaving, is Nik leaving too?

General Hospital Spoilers — Marcus Coloma Is On His Way Out

Marcus Coloma and GH production have confirmed that he is on his way out. The actor has already filmed his final scenes. Through much controversy and a series of mysterious behaviors online, Coloma had fans convinced he and the production team were at odds. While the official story being reported asserts they are not, many still speculate something was amiss. Ultimately, Coloma says he agreed with GH production that he would not film his last few scenes due to Covid protocols. No further information has been provided, but Coloma has officially gotten the ax in the role of Nikolas Cassadine, even if we’re painting it as a non-renewal of his contract.

Despite Marcus exiting the show, the character of Nikolas isn’t quite ready to be written off yet. We don’t know what lies ahead for the Cassadine prince, but we do know spoilers are being revealed for February that shows Niks is still a part of the plotline. This means there is likely a recast on the horizon, even if it’s just temporary. Adam Huss has covered the role of Nikolas a few times when Coloma needed a day or two off. It makes the most sense that he might step back into those shows again. However, that doesn’t mean he’ll stay for long.

General Hospital Spoilers — What Lies Ahead

Nikolas’ fate is still unknown, but a few theories are swirling around that could make for an interesting plot line ahead. Nik is on the hook for holding Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) hostage in the north tower of Wyndemere. If she remembers what he did to her, he’s toast. Furthermore, there’s still a chance Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) will piece together where that Christmas ornament came from that doctors found on Esme when she was admitted to the hospital. Could he spot a similar ornament during his travels to England with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco)? Might that lead back to figuring out where Esme was and pinning it all on Nik? He could go down for this, but he also might cut his losses and get out of dodge first. Nik isn’t a fan of life on the run. Staging his death is much more his style, though rumor has it Laura Collins (Genie Francis) might step in and offer her help first. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers just ahead.
