Looking back over this past year, General Hospital has had some questionable pairing that left fans wondering “what were they thinking”. What couples have made our Worst Couple of 2019 list and why?
General Hospital Spoilers – Anna Devane and Hamilton Finn
Maybe some of us are old school General Hospital Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) fans but we miss superspy Anna. For several years now, Anna has done nothing but cry. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) is a quirky, sexy, but almost shy doctor who had to be coaxed into a relationship with Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) who he had mad chemistry with.
Anna and Finn are almost hard to watch because it’s almost like a superspy and wannabe protege instead of a love match. Anna seems to take the lead in the relationship and Finn comes out looking weak, especially after referring to Anna’s ex-husband, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) for advice. Now that Finn’s daughter has arrived, it’s almost like Anna is giving parenting lessons to a grown man. Lessons that Anna, isn’t really qualified to give considering how much time she spent away from her own child. Anna and Finn are much more like friends than lovers. This pairing just needs to end. However, they aren’t the worst by far.
GH Spoilers – Valentin Cassadine and Nina Reeves
How many times can General Hospital’s Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) lie to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and her take him back? This pair has become monotonous in their yo-yo relationship. Valentin begs, steals, or borrows whatever he thinks will make Nina happy. Nina catches Valentin and breaks up with him. Valentin offer yet another outrageous gesture and Nina is right back. This pairing is a classic case of “some fools never learn”.
After the man hired a daughter for Nina, how can she go back to him? How could Nina ever trust Valentin again? On the other hand, how could she fault him for trying to give her what she desires the most? Valentin and Nina may have great chemistry, but the two are toxic. This cycle of lie, redeem, repeat just needs to end. How can Nina ever trust Valentin after his last ploy to win her heart? Still, Valentin and Nina aren’t the worst couple of 2019.

General Hospital Spoilers – Peter August and Maxie Jones
This General Hospital pairing is the one that should have never happened. Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is a chip off the old block. Peter is Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) son in every way. Peter held Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) captive for five years. Peter is partially responsible for his brother, Nathan West’s (Ryan Paevey) death. Fans may argue Peter’s innocence but Peter drew Faison out to get him killed. Peter could have simply been honest about his identity and Nathan would have never been in danger.
Peter is responsible for many other crimes and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) is oblivious to them all. Maxie is eager to believe that Peter has changed while he has single-handedly sent her friend to prison even. If these reasons aren’t enough, they have no chemistry. Peter and Maxie are like a boring B-movie that you can’t stay awake through. This is by far the Worst General Hospital Couple of 2019.

Peter & Maxie and Finn & Anna= ABSOLUTELY ZERO CHEMISTRY!
Annoying to watch.
At least Valentin & Nina do have some chemistry, there is potential there.
LOVE, LOVE when AVA is being AVA! She is great fun to watch & never a dull moment when she is her feisty, calculating, vengeful self. Maura is great in this role! ❤
valentin and Nina they might have good chemistry but he’s a liar he lied to her way to many time we just not interested any more if she does take him back I will skip there scene love her with Jax Jax is better than Valentin she need to dump him she know ava going to throw her under the bus right
Peter and Maxie need a couple reboot. They have chemistry but that chemistry has been taken away by the horrible story lines they have been trapped in for months. They had them sitting around eating and talking about other people’s love lives. They did not even get to have a fun first date. They ended up in Canada playing board games with Laura and Curtis instead of a fun adventure in Paris. Then they have been trying to turn Peter into a big bad which is not working and has been horrible and illogical. It is kind of hard to make a super couple when one half of it is being turned bad. They need to get Peter back on a better path. Then they need to give Peter and Maxie a fun and exciting direction. Peter should help Maxie create her magazine while he makes the Invader the best newspaper in PC. They should be building a media empire and become rivals for Nina and Jax. They should spend more time with Lulu and Dustin. They should also spend time with James, their families, friends, and each other.
