General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that one ABC soap alum still thinks fondly of his former character. GH fans remember Jason Thompson’s run as Dr. Patrick Drake – especially since Patrick’s been popping up again in some fun classics. Thompson left General Hospital in 2016 and landed at The Young and the Restless, where he currently plays Billy Abbott.

General Hospital Spoilers – Billy Abbott A Bit Of A Screwup

However, Y&R viewers know Billy’s a bit of a screwup and hasn’t put his family first lately. Patrick, on the other hand, is an excellent father! In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Thompson praised his old GH role when asked about his favorite soap dad of all time. It’s Patrick who really stands out in the dad department.

“I would have to say, Patrick Drake,” Thompson admitted. “He was a really good dad. He had his struggles but he really matured into a fantastic dad and I enjoyed that aspect of his life.”

Since fatherhood wasn’t something Patrick anticipated early on, that added to the doc’s challenge and helped him grow. “Becoming a father was unexpected and he never imagined himself in that role but he really rose to the occasion, especially after being a single dad for a while there.”

GH Spoilers – Family Visit

Patrick and Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) have two children together – Emma Scorpio-Drake (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) and Noah Scorpio-Drake, who was born offscreen in 2017. It’s a shame that we haven’t been able to see the whole family together, but maybe General Hospital can work out a full fam visit someday!

If Thompson ever decides to leave Y&R, there’ll be a spot at GH waiting for him. Of course, Thompson is doing a great job playing Billy, so The Young and the Restless fans certainly want him to stick around. Thompson was recently nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category – and he stands a good chance of winning! He’s an impressive actor in every role he takes on.
