General Hospital Spoilers – Willow Tait Keeps Secrets
Willow has been keeping secrets about her condition from her baby’s father, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) until she found out for sure if it was serious or not. Dr. TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) had told her that she had a very high white cell count but she knew it could be caused by something not really serious. An easily cured infection somewhere in her body, for instance could cause high white cells and she would just need antibiotics.
But it could also be caused by something extremely serious, and especially for a pregnant woman. If Willow has leukemia she will require a bone marrow transplant and it definitely could have tragic consequences for her baby as well.
GH Spoilers – Can Mother And Baby Be Treated?
Leukemia is a very scary diagnosis indeed, and Willow will want to know if both she and the baby can be treated or if she could lose her baby. Losing her baby before he or she is even born would be very traumatic; she already lost her first to sudden infant death syndrome. There was never an autopsy on Wiley Cooper-Jones (Grace Elizabeth Davis) who died at three days old, and had been thought to be Jonah Corinthos (now Viron Weaver). For Willow, when the baby swap was revealed, and she found out her baby really died it was like a double dose of grief. Now she wonders if her first baby could have had a deadly disease.
General Hospital Spoilers – The Baby Could Be Affected By Chemo
The baby could most certainly be negatively affected by chemotherapy and other drugs used in Willow’s treatment, and she may have to make a choice between her life and the baby’s. That is not a choice any mother to be wants to be faced with. However, even a bone marrow transplant could affect the baby negatively if done during the pregnancy.
Willow should certainly bring Michael into the loop at this point as she indeed should have from the start. She, and he, will need all the emotional support they can get to face this unfortunate crisis.
GH Spoilers – The Disease Was There First
TJ told her the disease was there first before Willow even became pregnant, and now she has a team of doctors consulting. The doctors are also the co-chiefs of staff of General Hospital, and that fact highlights the seriousness of the situation. Britt’s specialty is obstetrics and gynecology while Terry’s is pediatric oncology – cancer in children and babies. Willow found out she was illegally adopted shortly before the death of the only mother she ever knew, Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel). She has no idea what diseases might run in her family of origin or anything of that nature; now she will wonder if she should start trying to find them.
