That’s right, Constance Towers, who brought Helena Cassadine to life, is having a birthday! Here’s a look at her illustrious life, career, and portrayal of the inimitable Helena Cassadine.

General Hospital Spoilers – Constance Towers Is A Montana Native

Constance Mary Towers was born May 20, 1933, in the great state of Montana to Ardath and Harry Towers.
She began her career as a child, doing radio plays before moving to New York City to study music at the Juilliard School and acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She was discovered by talent scouts in the first grade and did radio programs for three years. Paramount Pictures offered Towers a contract at age 11, but her parents declined.

Her film debut was in 1955 in Bring Your Smile Along. She also starred in The Horse Soldiers Sergeant Rutledge, Shock Corridor, and The Naked Kiss.

GH Spoilers – Constance Towers Has Had An Illustrious Career

Towers went to work in the theater in 1965 in the musical Anya. She also starred in Show Boat and in The King and I as well as other plays throughout the 1970s. From 1971 to 1972 she played Marian Hiller in Love is a Many Splendored Thing.

From 1982 to 1987 she played Clarissa McCandless on the daytime drama Capitol; She played Clarissa for the show’s entire run. And then took up her role as the indomitable Helena Cassadine on GH in 1997!

General Hospital Spoilers – Constance Towers Is The Perfect Villainess As Helena Cassadine

Before her debut on GH, Constance appeared as John Abbott’s former secretary, Audrey North, on The Young and the Restless in 1996, and in 1997 she played Madame Julianna Deschanel on Sunset Beach.

Helena Cassadine was killed supposedly killed in 2015, but she was then seen in 2016, 2017, 2019, and most recently February 2020.

Fans have never stopped clamoring for Helena to return to Port Charles and wreak her demented brand of evil. She is a villainess of the first order, never hesitating to have her enemies neutralized whether they are family or not!

Now that her grandson Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) is back in town, might we see Helena once again?
