General Hospital Star Genie Francis Mentors Nicholas Chavez And Tabyana Ali

General Hospital spoilers tease that Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) can’t seem to get time off from the ups and downs of their roller-coaster relationship. But Ali and Chavez just offered some insights on what might lie ahead for the couple known as Sprina. And the two General Hospital stars also shared what Genie Francis’ support and friendship has meant to their careers.

General Hospital Spoilers – Spencer Finds ‘Peace’ With Trina

As Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez reflect on their characters of Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine, they admit that the two have survived some incredible challenges. But does that mean that the couple known as Sprina will get to relax? Not according to Ali. The 21-year-old General Hospital star warned, “Spencer and Trina can’t just settle in, be cute and comfortable” to People.

And Tabyana added, “They just don’t have that break.” But Chavez, 23, feels that all the challenges that their General Hospital characters face have made their relationship stronger. And Nicholas reflected, “When Spencer is with Trina, it’s the closest thing to home he’s ever felt. He didn’t have a mom, his dad has mostly been absent. He’s never felt home or family any other time in his life.”

As a result, Chavez feels that Spencer finds “peace and happiness with Trina. It’s tough love when it needs to be,” admitted the General Hospital actor. “But it’s also balance, safety, and freedom of expression. It’s all those things and there’s no other place Spencer has that.”

And for viewers who wonder if Spencer and Trina will forever remain on that roller coaster, Ali believes it’s part of their relationship. “I think they’re actually twin flames. And there’s a period of time before twin flames can be together,” she noted. “They have to go through this up-and-down tumultuous ride to have the calm waters. They must have the thunderstorm before they get to the sunset.”

As a result of that drama, many compare Spencer and Trina to Luke and Laura. But those comparisons stun Ali. And she admitted, “It’s hard to wrap my head around that. Anywhere you go, you say ‘General Hospital’ and people say ‘Luke and Laura.’ Generations of people still think and talk about Luke and Laura,” noted the actress.

And Ali appreciates fan feedback. “For it to be Nick and I, where people are telling us, ‘I’m watching the show because of you.’ Or that, ‘I left the show but now I’ve come back [because of you],’ I’m like, ‘What … what?’ It’s a lot, it’s a lot. But I’m grateful,” she added.

And both actors appreciate having Genie Francis (Laura Collins) as their mentor. “Genie is a special person,” shared Chavez. “And she likes to check in. When she wants to connect with me it’s more, ‘How are you doing? You feeling, okay? How’s life?’ Genie has been nothing but an amazing friend and teacher since I came on the show.”

And Ali agreed. “I’m honored to be able to know Ms. Genie, talk to her, understand her and her life. She’s told me stories about what it was like in the 70s and how it’s so different from today. She’s a great teacher and a good person to watch and learn from.”
