General Hospital Star Laura Wright Is Happy Carly Lost The Metro Court

General Hospital Star Laura Wright Is Happy Carly Lost The Metro CourtGeneral Hospital spoilers reveal Carly Corinthos plodding on through life with no direction except to butt into other people’s business, which sounds like the same old, same old, but this time she is doing it without her hotel.

General Hospital’s Carly Screws Up

While the loss of a hotel might not seem like a big deal, it is on soap operas. On The Young and the Restless, Phyllis Summers would lose it if she ever lost The Grand Phoenix, and ironically, Michelle Stafford, the actress who plays Phyllis and originated the role of Nina Reeves, now owns Carly’s share of the Metro Court.

Make no mistake, this is all Carly’s fault as she sold her half of the hotel she has run for so many years just to get the cash to do a little insider trading and invest in Aurora Media when she believed that Aurora was going to merge with ELQ. When that didn’t work out, she didn’t have the money to buy the hotel back and refused to take anyone’s help with a loan.

Carly Lives With Her Error In Judgement

Nina even bought the hotel to gift it to Carly but of course, she turned it down. Now, Carly has to live with the consequences of her actions, something Laura Wright is happy to play out — especially since Carly is not going to let this destroy her.

“Well, it had nothing to do with Jason [Steve Burton] or Sonny [Maurice Benard],” Wright said in the August 2, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest, referring to most of Carly’s problems revolving around men, and the same two men at that.

Wright also thinks Carly has been through a lot worse than this. “This is a woman who buried her son,” she said. “It’s not even comparable. Does losing the Metro Court sting? Yes. Is she going to die? No.”

The actress is even happy to be playing something different. “I’ve been playing the same hotel owner for 15 years. It’s been wonderful, but if I’m given the opportunity to do something different, why not? I think it’s been very well done. It’s good soap. But I definitely think that when you bury a son and your marriage ends, this kind of thing isn’t life-shattering.”

How will Carly reinvent herself? Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to find out.

I like that Carly is moving on with her life. So far this new leaf that she has turned over is putting her in a better light in my opinion. She’s actually taking responsibility for her mistake and behaving like an adult. This new Carly could grow on me.
