The actor has been playing the dimpled don for two decades now and he says that for the longest time he believed that there wasn’t much left for his character. Little did he know that the General Hospital writers managed to cook up a few surprised for Sonny and the Corinthos family. After all, there’s always some kind of drama going on in Port Charles and Sonny is almost always involved.

Maurice told ABC Soaps in Depth in an interview, “I was telling people, ‘I’ve done it all, 20 times over.’ There’s nothing left to play. But boy, was I wrong! I guess there is more to do.”

If that weren’t enough, Maurice recently celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary with his wife and the love of his life, Paula. Thanks to General Hospital’s summer hiatus, Sonny gets to spend his much-needed time off to be with his beloved wife, family, and his friends. And according to the actor, it still feels like they are in their honeymoon phase. He said, “We’ve been together for 30 years. It’s never really difficult. She’s like my buddy and a friend.”
