If it’s controversial, you better believe that Nancy Lee Grahn will certainly have something to say about it. The General Hospital star, who is best known for her role as Alexis Davis on the hit ABC soap, says that guns should be banned altogether from television and movie sets. This comes as Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin is facing two counts of manslaughter charges following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust back in 2021. Here’s what you need to know.

General Hospital News – Star Nancy Lee Grahn Demands Gun Ban On Hollywood Sets Following Alec Baldwin Manslaughter Charges

Nancy took to her Twitter account to write, “I’ve a solution re gun safety on movie & TV sets. How bout we get rid of all the damn guns? Are we that creatively stunted that we can’t tell stories without a gun in it? America is gun sick & I’m more than sick of guns. I’m not interested in debating this so like it or leave it.”

Many of her followers seemed to agree with, “That’s why I prefer British detective shows. Almost no guns. Better stories and character development as a result,” along with, “It’s not realistic as long as real life is filled with them. IMO #GH is one of the few remaining soaps due to popularity of mob boss Sonny storylines & all its exciting gunfire over the years. It shouldn’t be actor responsibilitNancy Lee Grahny, but production.”

General Hospital News – Does Nancy Have The Right Idea?

Hutchins was shot and killed by Baldwin on the set of the movie, even though the actor maintains that he never pulled the trigger. One of the counts is for involuntary manslaughter, in which prosecutors will have to prove there is underlying negligence. The other charge is involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act. Baldwin could face up to five years in prison.

Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said in a statement: “After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the ‘Rust’ film crew. On my watch, no one is above the law, and everyone deserves justice.”

Another critic wrote, “I have to disagree with you for the first time. I am all for gun control in real life. But… I would like to see them on movies and shows. Depending on the type of movie, sometimes a gun is needed for the plot or the killing, Obviously, work is needed to assure safety on the sets.”

So far Baldwin has made no comments about the matter.

Hard to make westerns or crime stories without guns, NLG.
But I’m sure every studio, production company and script writer in Hollywood will follow such unrealistic, knee jerk ‘demands’.
The truth is people in the movie industry know gun handling has been safe for 100 years.
