General Hospital spoilers remind fans that politics and the entertainment industry do cross over each other, all around the world, from time to time.
There have been many actors who have thrown their hats in the ring where election ridings are concerned, with former U.S. President Ronald Regan being an actor before he became POTUS. Recently, a GH star talked about his American Presidential aspirations.
GH Star Has U.S. Presidential Hopes
General Hospital star Stephen A. Smith appears now and again in Port Charles, playing Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) right-hand man. Smith originally debuted on the show in 2007 as a reporter and officially began playing Brick in 2016.
He’s also the host of “Stephen A. Smith Show” on ESPN Radio and has served as an ESPN NBA analyst for NBA Countdown and SportsCenter.
This past February, Smith noted on his podcast that he would entertain the idea of running for U.S. president. He stated this after he was listed in a Democratic primary poll nationwide.
When he was on ABC News’ This Week this past April, he was asked about his U.S. presidential ambitions, and he noted a run was “inevitable” because of the support he received.
Stephen A. Smith’s Response
During his interview with Jonathan Karl on ABC News’ This Week, Smith stated, “I have no choice. I’ve had folks that got a lot of money, billionaires, and others that have talked to me about exploratory committees and things of that nature.”
An insider with The Globe stated at the time, “These are the kind of shows Stephen would never be found on just a year ago.”
They went on to say that Smith is in “… full-blown campaign mode already.” They added that, “This whole thing started as a way to pump up his image, but now Stephen has bought into his own self-generated hype and actually sees himself sitting in the Oval Office.”

That is hilarious!!!!!
Why is it hilarious? I’m a Republican, but I’d rather see him there than the one we’ve got.
I’m just glad they didn’t say it was Nancy. That was my first thought.
My first thought too was oh please don’t let me read Nasty Nancy’s name!!
I couldn’t read the article at first. I had to skip over till I saw Stephen Smith then I sighed and read the entire article!
Ludacris. Just what we need another male celebrity with an ego representing us on the world stage. He’s already lost New England’s vote by accusing Drake Maye of being a liar because he didn’t know which show Cam Newton was on. Stephen A couldn’t conceive of a world where someone didn’t know his show. Kids watch clips on YouTube and TikTok. Now they’re not watching ESPN on television anymore.
If a convicted felon can hold the seat – anyone can.
