General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint the summer will sizzle in the land of Port Charles! Head Writers Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte recently spilled the tea to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) about what fans can expect during the hottest months of the year, and we have the scoop below.

Jason Morgan’s Explosive Return

During their interview with SOD, General Hospital’s head writers confirmed that Jason will officially be back for the ABC soap’s milestone 16,000th episode, which takes place July 13.

According to Korte and Van Etten, Jason will return a changed man, with his WSB lock-up having a major impact on his outlook on his life.

Decisions he makes when he comes home will have major implications for Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), the Quartermaines, his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Speaking of Anna, she’ll have “the goods” on Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) but will struggle to spread the word while still in the French mental health facility.

Fans will see the effects of Anna being imprisoned and gaslit by WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) when she returns.

She’ll have a less-than-happy reunion with family and friends in PC, thanks to an unreliable source. General Hospital head writers hint that Anna will return to town with “deadly intentions”.

Valentin Cassadine’s Risk

General Hospital spoilers remind fans that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) ventured off to Geneva in hopes of turning himself in to the WSB, via the mysterious “Z”, and save Port Charles (and the rest of the world) from Cullum and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).

Korte and Van Etten note that Valentin’s future lies in the hands of the WSB, and the number of people back at home who aren’t happy with Valentin, as well as an ally in Anna.

Meanwhile, Carly will go to extreme lengths to get Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) out of the WSB, which means going head-to-head with “Z”.

This is because of Josslyn’s action while at Spoon Island. Cullum will attempt to escape with the results of the cold fusion project in hand, but thanks to fate, Joss will have an opportunity to stop him.

According to the writers, it’ll be a ‘bloody’ battle, and Josslyn’s heroics will get the attention of “Z” when all is said and done.

Josslyn will hold the fates of a number of people, and deal with ‘reckonings’ across the town. Joss and Carly will clash, which will lead to a lie that has repercussions for many years to come.

Sonny Corinthos’ New Chapter

Over in the mob world, Sonny’s final battle with Sidwell will leave several characters’ lives on the line, including ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor).

In addition, Sonny won’t be happy with Carly’s new romance with Valentin and turn to Brick (Stephen A. Smith) for help.

Plus, Sonny will once again clash with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) when it takes on new responsibilities.

There will be a power shift in the little town where the mob boss repositions himself, but this will mean that both Jason and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) need to get on the same page.

Speaking of Tracy, she’ll clash with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) as there is suddenly a battle where control of Deception is concerned. Tracy will be put to the test thanks to a shift in fortunes both at work and at home.

Cassius Faison’s Goodbye

General Hospital spoilers for the summer note that Cassius will be exposed and prepare to skip town, but risk it all to say goodbye to someone.

As GH head writers note, “But in the end, his legacy will not be determined so much by his own decisions but by the choice of someone he leaves behind.”

Then there’s Cassius’ sister, Britt, who’s set to face legal and personal ramifications for her role in ‘helping’ Cassius and Cullum.

Liels Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) won’t be pleased with Britt’s choices and the secrets she hid. With that said, a major revelation will give the character a “new lease on life” … so could this be about her Huntington’s disease?

Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) will be the one delivering this news! Still, there won’t be many who are happy The Britch is back, and Carly will be one of them (shocker, right?)

In addition, added teasers suggest that Britt will find a friend in Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson), get a handout from Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett), and gain a ‘frenemy’ in Lucas.

Things start off shaky with her and Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer). She’ll deal with hard challenges at the hospital and get grilled by Anna.

Still, one of the writers notes, “It’s when Britt finds a new low that she receives a kind look from a lost love.  In the aftermath of Sidwell’s downfall, Lucas will feel as if his future is uncertain.

He’ll turn to Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) for support, but he’ll also deal with friction with Britt, tension with Joss, and ‘competition’ from Joe.

Laura Collins’ World

General Hospital spoilers suggest that Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) will try to get the little town back on track after Sidwell goes down, which might mean turning her back on Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove).

There will also be a shocking nomination she brings forward to the hospital’s board, so will she suggest Sonny joins?

Laura may even be asked to play peacemaker when Valentin approaches her to smooth things over between him and Lulu Spencer (Alex Havins Bruening).

Interestingly enough, Korte and Van Etten also tease, “Laura could use a respite with Kevin Collins [Jon Lindstrom] and Ace, but her trip to visit them in Ireland may yield trouble for her marriage — and bigger trouble for Port Charles.”

Lulu Spencer’s Series Of Shocks

Over to Lulu, she’ll be blown away when she finds out that Carly had been keeping Valentin hidden at her house for months, with the help of Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke).

She’ll also learn the truth about Cassius. It sounds like Lulu’s relationship with Charlotte will deteriorate, and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) will try to help offer his ex-wife some advice.

While on the topic of Dante, he’ll be happy to be relieved of police commissioner duties once Anna returns; however, he’ll be in quite the pickle when evidence relating to a high-profile crime is missing.

Still, on a good note, the summer softball league will provide an opportunity for Dante and Liz to get closer, which will upset Ric, as it will create major holes in his efforts to romance the nurse.

Willow Cain’s World Crumbles

General Hospital spoilers for the summer reveal that Elizabeth’s curiosity over Jack Brennan’s (Chris McKenna) locked-in state will place the pressure on Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

As Willow’s clock is ticking where Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) “locked-in” state is concerned, as she’s running out of paralytic drugs, Nina and Brennan will jump into action to track down evidence that Willow can blackmail Drew.

Still, it seems that Willow will have to account for her ties to Sidwell, and Drew will make a “big splash”.

Brennan will make a breakthrough and find evidence, but it may be too late. Regardless, it does sound like Brennan and Nina will get closer in all this. With that said, the source Brennan gets the Drew information from will cost him dearly.

Back to Elizabeth, she’ll push through a change in leadership at the hospital and enjoy turning the tables on Britt.

Curtis Ashford Heading To Pentonville

General Hospital head writers reveal that Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) will contribute to Sidwell’s downfall, while Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) defense is undermined thanks to cracks in Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) marriage.

Curtis will be given a plea deal for his assault charges, which includes a short sentence at Pentonville, but it’s unclear if he’ll accept the terms or go to court.

He’ll also be dealing with a civil suit from Isaiah, too. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) will go into labor after an emotional cross, and it sounds like Isaiah and Curtis will place their difference aside for the sake of the new baby.

In some fun news, Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) will welcome Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett)  home.

The new baby will be Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) first test when it comes to keeping her parents’ issues at arm’s length.

Kai Taylor’s (Jens Austin Astrup) old teammate Quinn (Jequan Jackson) will resurface, looking to make amends; however, Kai will note that their renewed friendship depends on Trina, too.

Trina will also be the center of someone’s attention, which isn’t good. In addition, Kai will start to realize Drew is coming out of his “locked-in” state and feel unnerved about it.

Both Trina and Kai will come to the wrong conclusion when they find out about a disturbing incident that involves Drew.

Elsewhere, the showcase that Trina and Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) perform at will go so well, Gio will realize he may have a future in music himself.

This will bring him and BLQ closer; however, a looming lie could place a major wrench in this. Gio will save a life, but there are people in the little town who wish he hadn’t.

BLQ’s Plan Goes Sideways

It sounds like BLQ’s plan to frame Willow will blow up in her face, and her marriage with Chase will face a test as she owns up to what she did.

With that said, Chase will draw a line where Willow is concerned. BLQ will also face conflict at Deception when the company accepts a new shareholder.

Could this be Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson)? He’ll seize an opportunity during a corporate shake-up, so only time will tell.

Speaking of a shake-up, there will be one at the PCPD, which will give Chase an opportunity to clear his name.

Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell) will fall deeper for Michael, but she’ll start to grow impatient with Willow’s place in his life.

Teen Scene Drama

General Hospital spoilers for the summer state that Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) will be upset at his parents due to a betrayal.

He’ll also have an unpleasant reunion with Danny. There will be a point where Rocco doesn’t break his word, which will trigger Danny to spill intel of some sort.

Danny and Charlotte will be part of some drama when they attempt to foil Cullum’s plans.

Danny and Rocco’s issues will place a strain on Charlotte’s relationship with Rocco. In addition, Charlotte will seek new living arrangements because of her issues with Lulu.

Jason’s return will have Danny attempting to be the bigger person with Drew.

Anna’s return to PC also means that Rocco going down in Cullum’s shooting is far from over; however, Sonny, Laura, Dante, and Brennan will assist the boy. Alienated by Danny and Charlotte, Rocco bonds with Scout Cain (Kayden Brenna Tokarski).

Ethan Lovett’s Confession

Rounding up General Hospital summer previews, Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean) will make a confession to Ava that will have repercussions for months to come.

A face from the past will interrupt their budding connection and trigger Ethan to run. In addition, Ava will save Ethan’s butt and test the validity of his “confession”. Ava will also clash with Sonny, which will trigger an old alliance.

Lastly, the head writers say that Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) will make a hard choice when facing a fugitive.

He’ll later take on a thankless and emotional job that could cost him a fulfilling relationship. Meanwhile, one professional opportunity will cost Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) another.

Regardless, Molly will be there for Cody, and the two take a big step … together! Are you excited about the summer in Port Charles? Share your comments below!
