Some hours later, Frank Valentini, the soap’s executive producer, responded to Chad’s IG post, speaking out on his thoughts about Duell’s exit.
General Hospital’s – Executive Producer Frank Valentini’s Confirms No Recast
Valentini posted on the social media platform X, clarifying that there are no immediate plans to recast the Michael Corinthos character. He also posted some very kind words about Duell’s tenure with the GH.
Valentini began by stating he was ‘sad’ to confirm Duell’s exit from GH, and that he’s loved working with the actor over the years. He notes he wishes Duell nothing but the best, and that Chad’s a terrific actor who will be missed by everyone on the soap.
GH’s executive producer went on to state, “There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime. I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad exits in the new year.”
GH’s – What Does This Mean For Chad Duell & Michael Corinthos?
From the sounds of it, it looks like Duell’s exit was not at all controversial, and as Valentini has stated no recast plans, this could keep the door open for the actor to eventually return to the soap.
In terms of his Michael Corinthos role, it could also mean that the character passes away or will at the very least be presumed dead.
Then again, considering all the marriage issues Michael is having with Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), he may decide to leave Port Charles and start fresh somewhere else for the time being. Only time will tell.
Duell was a recast, taking the role over from Drew Garrett in 2010. During his years as Michael Corinthos, Chad has earned six Daytime Emmy nominations and snagged the statue in 2015 within the Outstanding Supporting Actor category.
