General Hospital’s Maurice Benard Sets Record Straight About Kelly Monaco

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that while it’s been months since Sam McCall and Kelly Monaco exited the land of Port Charles, her name continues to pop up in storylines.

She also still remains in the hearts of many fans, as there are plenty of GH viewers who wish she hadn’t been let go in the first place!

Still, fellow GHer, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) recently hopped on social media to set the record straight concerning something about his former co-star.

Benard recently posted something interesting on his X social media handle. In the tweet, he writes, “People keep asking to have Kelly Monico on State of Mind. I have asked, people will do things when they’re ready. I’m not one to push. I would imagine she has much more important things on her plate.”

So, there you have it! Will Kelly Monaco end up being a guest on Maurice Benard’s State of Mind (SOM) podcast? Only time will tell. The show is a wonderful YouTube program that focuses on mental health issues and helps raise awareness while eliminating some stigmas.

Benard has also had many of his GH colleagues, both current and former, on SOM over the years, so if Monaco accepts, it is sure to be an interesting interview.

SOM’s Latest Guest

Benard’s latest guest on SOM was The Young and the Restless (Y&R) Sharon Case, whose character, Sharon Newman, suffers from bipolar disorder.

In fact, Sharon Newman has been diagnosed for years now, and the character has had her fair share of ups and downs. Interestingly enough, Sharon Newman hasn’t been Case’s only soap character that’s dealt with bipolar.

During her SOM appearance, it was revealed that Case once played Debbie Simon on As the World Turns from 1992 to 1993. The character was manic-depressive, which Benard pointed out, was what many referred to as bipolar disorder during that time.
