General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest it’s been a hot minute since fans have seen Spencer Cassadine in the land of Port Charles, and unless there are plans to recast the role, it might be a much longer time until he reappears.
That’s because the character’s portrayer has been busy with other roles. Chavez was recently cast in the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot, but his part was cut. So, what’s the reason behind this?
Nicholas Chavez Wasn’t The Only One …
In November of last year, it was announced that Chavez would be part of the cast for the latest installment of the horror film franchise, which is set to be released this July 18.
While Chavez did film scenes for “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, his role, along with Lola Tung’s (from “The Summer I Turned Pretty”) characters, were edited out. Interestingly enough, both Tung and Chavez were slated to be a part of the movie’s opening sequence.
But … Why?

In an interview with PEOPLE, the director of the film, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, explained. She notes, “In every movie, its best laid plans, and then you edit the movie, and you put it together, and you go, ‘I love this in a vacuum. This is a fantastic scene. But it doesn’t fit in the movie.”
She also added that it was a situation that had nothing to do with either Tung or Chavez, as Robinson clarifies that both of them are “fantastic”. Robinson went on to say that she loved working with Tung and Chavez; however, “… in the larger tapestry of the film, it just didn’t fit.”
The situation sounds unfortunate, but it is what it is! Some GH fans were excitedly gearing up to see Chavez in “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, which is days away from being released, so will the flick lose some moviegoers over this?
