While no one knows what the future holds for the daytime television industry as production has been suspended for all four of the major soaps, there is some good news to report. That’s because all four of the major network soaps are enjoying their best ratings in over a year! Here’s what you need to know.

Millions of soap fans are tuning in to The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives for a few good reasons. The first, of course, is that millions of people are staying indoors because of the stay-at-home orders that have been imposed in most states across the country to help curb the outbreak of the coronavirus. The second reason, of course, is that the soaps have never been better before with new, exciting, and dramatic storylines that have viewers on the edge of their seats!

According to Soaps in Depth, as most of the country stayed home the week of March 23, all four soaps saw a nice spike in the ratings. General Hospital drew its biggest audience in over two years, as did The Bold and the Beautiful. Meanwhile, Days of Our Lives managed to garner its best numbers in over a year while The Young and the Restless saw ratings hit at an 11-month-high.

When Will The Shows Return To Filming?

And while no one knows how long production will be suspended for the soaps, Days of Our Lives fans can breathe easy, knowing that the soap films six months in advance and that they have enough new episodes to last them until at least October. The other three soaps will be either airing repeats or classic ‘Flashback Friday’ episodes from the past. Now, as far as when the stay-at-home orders will be lifted, it’s on a state-by-state basis.
