Rebecca Herbst Celebrates 25 Incredible Years As Elizabeth Webber On General Hospital

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the beautiful and talented Rebecca Herbst debuted on the ABC soap on August 1, 1997. Liz has had quite a run, and no fan will ever forget the poorly conceived real-life plot to get rid of Nurse Webber. When fans found out that TPTB were going to take Liz off the canvas, the backlash was such that they quickly reversed course and here we are today with the legacy character front and center.

Soap Opera Digest asked Herbst to share her memories of working with the incredibly talented GH cast. Of daytime icon Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) she said, “He was always so generous and caring and attentive when I worked with him.”

Liz has had many love interests over the years including Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson). “He’s just such a beautiful soul,” she said, recalling that Liz and Lucky plots were “one of the highlights,” of her career.

Liz was also involved at one point with Nikolas Cassadine (then Tyler Christopher), of whom she said, “Tyler and I in our personal lives are really good friends … I’m so proud of him now with where he’s at in his life.”

She added that she had a lot of fun working with onscreen husband Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) and Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) of whom she said, “He understood that his job was to say the words on the page and not write the show.” In other words, a true professional!

What does she think about working with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) who was one of two GH actors let go for declining to take a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine? To this day she recalls that she, “doesn’t understand why the writers, “didn’t follow through with the Liz and Jason storyline … the Liason fans are still so incredibly supportive.”

GH Spoilers – Liz Webber Is A Legacy Character

Liz has interacted with her oldest son Cameron Webber (William Lipton) a lot in her current storyline in which she is acting strangely and was committed for treatment. She thinks, “that kid’s incredible,” noting not only does he hold down a gig at GH but he’s also a full time student. She notes she, “hit the lottery,” with all of her onscreen kids.

Liz arrived in town to stay with her grandparents Steve and Audrey Hardy (Rachel Ames). Her love for Ames is apparent when she says that the actress “is the person I probably miss the most out of everybody that I’ve worked with.”
