Soap Veteran Daniel Cosgrove Joins General Hospital, Details Here!

General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint a new face is set to pop up in the land of Port Charles, as actor Daniel Cosgrove is slated to make his debut on the soap as Ezra Boyle, on Friday, March 21.

Fans may recognize Cosgrove from previous work in the land of daytime drama, with roles on All My Children (AMC), Days of Our Lives (DOOL), As the World Turns (ATWT), and Guiding Light (GL). He also played Matt on the primetime hit, Beverly Hills 90210 from 1998 to 2000.

Cosgrove Auditioned To Be The New Jack Brennan

During an interview with TV Insider, Cosgrove revealed he had originally auditioned with General Hospital earlier this year to play WSB agent, Jack Brennan.

\That role was ultimately given to Chris McKenna; however, during the auditioning process, he did reunite with old Guiding Light castmate, Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) – who played Cassie Layne on the soap.

The offer to play Ezra was presented shortly after Cosgrove heard he would not be playing Brennan. The actor stated, “They told me a little bit about him, and one or two people I’d be working with, but they kind of kept things tight-lipped.”

He added that he’s been filming for about a month and a half now.

Cosgrove’s Legacy In Soaps

The actor was last seen in the land of daytime in 2016, playing Aiden Jennings on Days for two years. He started in soaps on AMC from 1996 to 1998 as a Scott Chandler recast and returned to the role in 2010 to 2011.

He was on ATWT in 2010, playing Christopher Hughes II, and also worked on GL from 2002 to 2005, and once again from 2007 to 2009 as Bill Lewis III.

Cosgrove will continue his legacy in soaps, playing Ezra on General Hospital, a character that is described as a ‘consummate politician,’ who shares scenes with another Port Charles politician, Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison).

Still, he’s also set to have interactions with the mayor of the town, Laura Collins (Genie Francis), and may act as a thorn in the sides of many PC residents.
