General Hospital fans were shocked this week when Steve Burton announced unexpectedly that he was leaving the ABC soap opera. 

The fan fave went on to say that he hoped Jason Morgan’s exit was only temporary and wants to return for summer 2026. 

According to Burton, one of the reasons he’s leaving GH is so he can spend some time with his new wife Michelle Lundstrom.

Steve Burton’s scandalous divorce from his long-time wife and mother of his three children was plastered all over he blogs a few years ago. 

Sheree Gustin and Steve Burton’s marriage seemed solid on social media, but no one knows what goes on behind closed doors.  

The General Hospital actor was first linked to his new wife Michelle Lundstrom in May 2024 when the couple confirmed they were dating. 

Four months later, Steve and Michelle confirmed that he had popped the question and they were getting married.  Just a year later in May 2025 the couple said “I Do” at a small wedding in Laguna Beach.
