Why Would General Hospital Kill Of Luke Now…Or Is He Not Dead?

General Hospital: Luke SpencerGeneral Hospital spoilers reveal the town mourning the loss of Luke Spencer, a character they and the audience barely thought about for years.

General Hospital Spoilers – What Is The Point Of Luke Spencer’s Death?

Back in 2016, Lulu Falconeri was convinced that her father, Luke Spencer, was dead and buried in the Cassadine Island tunnels but that turned out not to be true and the next year we saw Luke in an Amsterdam cafe when Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) walked in. That’s the last we even thought of the character until Tracy returned to town for the first episode of 2022 and announced Luke was “gone”.

And yes, we assumed gone meant dead and after saying “gone” once again on Tuesday, Tracy explained that Luke died in an Austrian cable car accident, which is weird to say the least. However, we now know Victor Cassadine was responsible for that accident, which Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) immediately suspected was not an accident at all.

This sets up a plot that could involve multiple characters trying to bring down Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) after discovering what he did. However, that still doesn’t answer why the show would kill off Luke now and how his death will have any impact with his kids scattered across the world.

We would want to see Lucky and Lulu’s reactions to this news, except Lucky’s happened off-camera and Lulu is still in a coma after the show fired Emme Rylan for no good reason last year. The only real reactions we are seeing are from Laura (Genie Francis), Tracy, and Bobbie. While that is all well and good, they are not his children and do not have as much impact.

GH Spoilers – But Is Luke Spencer Actually Dead?

We saw Julian Jerome’s (William deVry) body, we saw Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) body, but we have not seen Luke Spencer’s body and probably never will, so we can just assume he is presumed dead, right? Like, why kill him in a public transportation accident?

Tracy could have seen him through an illness and watched him die. Then, we’d be more apt to believe it. While we doubt Tony Geary will ever return to the soap, we just have another presumed dead character who technically can pop up again at any moment. Stay tuned to General Hospital to see how these stories play out.

  7. Guest says

I don’t think he’s dead yet! But if he doesn’t want to come back to work evently, then he should be removed for sure!

  8. Guest says

I don’t think he dead. I think he knows something was going on and is in hiding and Tracy knows he not dead. He suspect the Cassadine are up to know good Gone is not dead and Luke is a smart man and always on his toes

Writers are getting worse with this last bit of information. I won't believe it, until Tony Geary makes a statement himself. He knowhe doesn't want to come back to the US or to GH, and asked to be killed off.

  11. Guest says

Yes but TG, I thought, is happily retired in Amsterdam. I doubt he’s coming back.

  12. Guest says

I feel that they should bring back Jason & Luke. They were GH. Get these two back & GH would be off the charts.

  13. Bill Varney says

Luke and Laura are Tony Geary and Genie Francis, and Tony Geary and Genie Francis are Luke and Laura. Forever and all time. They must all stay alive for the life of General Hospital. No discussion needed. As long as the series exists, they – and Gloria Monty – are part of its history. They took it to the top of the ratings heap back in the early ‘80’s, and that must NEVER be forgotten. They are simply permanent fixtures in Port Charles – immutable and unchanging. And God love ‘em for it!

  14. Guest says

Absolutely not! There are characters that just CANNOT be recast. Luke Spencer is #1 on that list.
“Authorities finding his belongings and identifying his remains” means nothing.
Finding out Luke is alive would be wonderful. But I doubt Tony Geary is going to come back on GH for a visit.
    That would be disappointing.
And we’d love to see Luke and Robert go after Victor Cassadine and his ‘phone buddy’. Helena?
THAT would be a satisfying confrontation!
    Those were the days…

I think the most wonderful thing would be if Peter and Victor would die NOW The sorylines are getting so bad andboring. I am afraid if GH doesnb't get better story lines the soap will die. Enlugh of the grabage they have given us.atie Dansinger

Tracy told Laura that Luke's were identified after the cable car accident.
