Y&R is expected to resume filming this month while DOOL has issues with a September 1 production start date.
When Will General Hospital Resume Filming?
Production on all four soaps ended in mid-March as worldwide filming closed down in order to safeguard individuals from COVID-19. Due to a limited number of shows in the can, GH, B&B, and Y&R ran out of original content and are now airing encore episodes.
DOOL films many weeks in advance and still has original content airing. Weeks ago GH began airing flashback episodes with blasts from the past showing up on fans’ television screens.
Current information has General Hospital resuming filming in July. But that date is fluid and could be in danger.
Will California Reenact More Restrictions On Public Events?
According to Deadline, ABC set a goal of resuming production on the set of GH in mid-July. But in recent days California Governor Gavin Newsom shut down previously re-opened venues, including bars and restaurants. His latest move has interested parties wondering if there will be more shutdowns on the horizon, in particular a ban on filming.
Newsom’s shutdown orders came following an increase in hospitalizations and positive COVID-19 tests.
On June 30th he tweeted: “CA’s response to #COVID19 is based on science. That’s why we asked counties that are experiencing high transmission and positivity rates to close down bars & toggle back re-openings. We will continue to monitor counties across the state & take appropriate action when necessary.”
When Will Fans See New Episodes Of GH?
With each new day, some are nervous that television filming will once again go dark. Could this happen despite the fact that B&B has been filming successfully and safely for weeks now?
It’s unclear what direction the governor will take. What we do know is that GH fans are going into withdrawals without their favorite sudser. Each day that production is delayed means more time before original content will air.
In the meantime, the encore episodes are the next best thing. And sometimes, Plan B is the best we can hope for!
All soaps need to be filming! B&B proves it can be done so why aren’t the others doing it?
I would rather they stay safe & therefore be around for decades, than start too soon & catch Covid. Then we would have nothing.
If the actors are ready for it, I say let them choose. They can do like everyone else. I am in a small theater group and we take peoples temperature before they come in for rehearsals, etc. That’s what everyone else is doing.
If bars can operate why not filming? It’s not as risky as a crowded bar!!!!!!
It’s probably too late now, but I would have enjoyed watch the informal zoom sessions between actors, having current actors introduce the very old flashbacks, and do stuff like “behind the scenes” — even going on a one person tour of the sets, if that would be allowed. When they show episodes that are so old, I don’t know who some of the characters are, and then there is no follow up as to “what happened?”
STAYING SAFE is more importanrt… Repeats are fine; for now, as they are better than no GH.. Be patient the stars are wating just like we are. STAY SAFE Everyone xo
A whim? I always knew this just another soapdirt type mag. But to call concerns about covid-19 a whim is just disturbing .and a embarrassment for all the familys yhat have lost love ones..i think I have read my last article here.
I agree want everyone safe. But I think Carol Cron idea on zoom is good. Can be put on ABC website where more people can watch. I am not asking for new stories. I am not watching reruns and waiting for filming to begin, whenever that will be.
