The 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards show is just around the corner soap fans, and we have a primer for you when it comes to who has been nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor award.
This year the Daytime Emmys will be televised on Friday, June 26 at 8:00 PM ET on CBS, and based on years past, the ceremony is always chock full of celluloid memories.
Every year actors from the four remaining soaps submit a tape of what he considers to be his best and most memorable scenes—in other words, work that is truly award-worthy!
The judges watch the tapes and decide on a winner, which must be hard to do given the incredible talent pool that is currently on daytime.
Are you hoping that your favorite actor wins this year? We have a list of the actors who have been nominated as well as a brief description of the work they submitted.
Without further ado, let’s review the work that is being judged for the Daytime Emmy For Outstanding Lead Actor.
The Bold and the Beautiful – Thorsten Kaye
This year Thorsten Kaye is the lucky actor nominated from the CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful. He plays the wealthy playboy Ridge Forrester and he submitted scenes with his costar Katherine Kelly Lang who plays his on again off again love Brooke Logan.
As fans know these two were embroiled in a ton of controversy as they fought tooth and nail over the actions of his degenerate son Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson).
General Hospital – Steve Burton
Steve Burton was nominated from the ABC sudser General hospital for his role as Jason Morgan. He chose to highlight the work he did with child actor Porter Fasullo who plays his son Danny Morgan.
The scene between them is heart-wrenching as Jason must explain that his mom Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) is going away to prison.
General Hospital – Jon Lindstrom
Yes, you read that right, this year two actors from GH are nominated! The second actor is Jon Lindstrom who had a whale of a time playing two characters: Kevin Collins and Ryan Chamberlain.
Of course, it makes perfect sense that his tape contains scenes in which he portrays both characters. In case you’re not sure, Kevin is the good twin and Ryan is the bad twin!
Judges were treated to scenes in which the twins talk about Ava Jerome (Maura West).
