Great American Family Channel News – Candace Says Her Comments Were Taken Out Of Context
The former Full House star shared in 2022 that she would take on the role of chief content officer at Great American Media, focusing on programming for the Great American Family channel.
She mentioned to The Wall Street Journal’s WSJ Magazine that the network aimed to emphasize “traditional marriage,” unlike Hallmark Channel, which features more diverse storylines, including those with same-sex couples.
Now, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she says her earlier remarks were “misunderstood;” she explained, “It can be tough when speaking to the media.
We appreciate outlets that promote our channels, but there’s always a chance for misinterpretation because answers can be taken out of context. That definitely happened to me when I joined Great American Family, and it was a challenging time to be misunderstood like that.”
GAFC News – Candace Continued Her Explanation
She went on to explain, “I want to emphasize that we’re still a relatively new channel—this marks only our fourth Christmas season. Like any emerging business, we have our target audience in mind, and we aim to create content that resonates with them.”
Cameron Bure also highlighted what sets GAF apart from other networks, stating, “We openly discuss God and His influence in our lives, rather than attributing things to fate or mere chance.”
She further mentioned her intention to film “another four to five movies” with the network in 2025.
Great American Family Channel News – Candace’s Move Reunited Her With Another Hallmark Transplant
Cameron Bure’s transition to Great American Media in 2022 brought her back together with former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott, who had stirred up controversy prior to his exit from the network. He had removed an advertisement featuring a same-sex couple.
When she left the Hallmark Channel, the Fuller House actress shared with The Wall Street Journal her desire to “tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them.”
She also expressed that Hallmark had evolved into a “completely different network than when I started” over ten years ago. She further remarked, “I believe that Great American Family will prioritize traditional marriage at its core.”
GAFC News – Candace Clarified Her Thoughts On Instagram Following The Backlash
After facing criticism for her remarks, the actress went on Instagram to explain her views; “Those who know me understand that I care deeply for everyone,” she stated in November 2022. “It truly hurts me to think that anyone believes I would want to offend or hurt anyone on purpose. It makes me sad that the media often tries to create division, even over something as joyful as Christmas movies. But with the current negative atmosphere in our society, I can’t say I’m surprised; we need the spirit of Christmas now more than ever.”
Candace, who identifies as a “devoted Christian,” expressed she’s “called to love all people” adding, “To everyone reading this, regardless of race, belief, sexuality, or political views, I love you.”
