When Hope Calls sets official season 2 premiere date on Great American Family
The When Calls the Heart spinoff, When Hope Calls, originated on Hallmark Channel in 2019 with a ten-episode first season. Meanwhile, the spinoff was relocated to Great American Family in 2021, to air two Christmas episodes. Now, season 2 will kick off its eight-episode show on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Moreover, the premiere episode is set to stream three days earlier on Thursday, April 3 on Pure Flix.
Meanwhile, it was announced that the popular series will be adding cast in the form of three new additions. When Hope Calls originally launched, fans watched sisters Lillian Walsh (Morgan Kohan, Sullivan’s Crossing) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon, Chicago Fire) to the town of Brookfield, circa 1916.
According to the logline, the original series “centered on the town’s orphanage and its residents who meet tremendous challenges while creating a hopeful, faith-filled community on the cusp of change in the frontier town.”
In the season 1 finale, Grace departed for London, and when the series resurfaced on Great American Family in 2021, Hudon did not return. Meanwhile, Lillian revealed that her sister had not put down roots in the UK. Moreover, her season 1 love interest, Chuck (Greg Hovanessian) also skipped town

New cast for season 2 of the When Calls the Heart spinoff on GAF
According to Great American Family, “new characters are introduced that are seminal to the orphanage and children, the sprawling farms and ranch lands, and to the town of Brookfield.”
Among the new cast is Cindy Busby (Cedar Cove), as Nora, while Christopher Russell (UnREAL) will play a new mountie, Michael. The cast will also include Nick Bateman (A Christmas Miracle with Daisy), who will play the role of Wyatt.
In other casting news, Trevor Donovan (90210) will star in two episodes as Constable Jim Reynolds, an experienced Mountie based in Clearwater. GAF describes him as “A strapping man, proficient in horse riding and physical pursuits, Reynolds is known for his strong presence and skills in the field.”
Donovan will first appear in episode 3, when “Michael (Russell) and Nora (Busby) arrive to pick up a child under his care.” Meanwhile, in his second episode, “Reynolds captures cattle rustlers preying on Brookfield ranches.”

The new cast will star alongside returning cast members, Kohan (Lillian), Hatanaka (Gabriel), Wendy Crewson (Tess) and Hanneke Talbot (Maggie). Meanwhile, Marshall Williams and Neil Crone, who recurred in season 1 as handyman Sam and hotel manager Ronnie, are not listed in the season 2 cast list. Moreover, Lori Loughlin, who reprised her WCTH role as Abigail Stanton in the 2021 Christmas episode is not listed in the cast list.
