Find out everything to know about the future of Chesapeake Shores. And learn what an exec hinted about the potential for a spin-off or movie. Get all the details below.
Chesapeake Shores Fans Want More After Series Ends
TV show fans tend to prove their loyalty by hoping for a series’ return even after it ends. And that seems particularly true for those who loved viewing Chesapeake Shores. Because though the Hallmark Channel fave gave a happy ending to the fictional O’Brien clan, fans keep longing for more.
And recently, exec producer Phoef Sutton reflected on that potential. Although Sutton didn’t make any promises, the producer did offer some thoughts on what plots could continue. For instance, the finale wove in a second wedding for Megan and Mick, pregnancy news for Jess, and an engagement for Evan and Abby. But Sutton admitted that all those story lines could have turned into future episodes, noted Showbiz.
For instance, Sutton pointed to that fated proposal from Evan (Robert Buckley) to Abby (Meghan Ory). If Chesapeake Shores had continued, Evan’s proposal would not occur so soon. “If the show was continuing and if there was another year, the proposal would’ve been probably in the middle of next season or even the end of next season,” shared the exec producer. “But we felt that we needed to tie things up and give everyone a sense of continuing and happiness.”
Hallmark Fans Want A Chesapeake Shores Christmas Movie
Sutton revealed that if Hallmark had renewed Chesapeake Shores, viewers could watch Evan and Abby enjoy married life. But the exec producer also noted other possibilities. For instance, Evan might have chosen charitable work. And even as Mick (Treat Williams) became used to retiring, Kevin (Brendan Penny) would head to medical school.
But some fans want more than an imaginary future for Chesapeake Shores. And on Twitter, some viewers have taken to pleading for a movie spin-off. For instance, any producers want to take up the idea of creating a Christmas film version of Chesapeake Shores? One Twitter account pleaded for re-tweets on that topic. “RT if you think that @hallmarkchannel @HMNow @hallmarkmovie @HallmarkDrama should make a #ChesapeakeChristmas movie for the #Chessies! @SamanthaDiPippo @angelamegrey @Anniehowellpr @RandPope @kateredinger @ElizabethYostHC.”
But reflecting on the finale, Sutton explained that he wanted fans to feel that all the loose ends got tied up. And the producer admitted that the final two episodes packed enough for a single season. However, Sutton also reflected on the potential for a future. “I can’t really share anything yet, but we are in discussion,” shared the exec producer. “I don’t really know what it would entail yet,” added Sutton. “But I don’t think you’ve seen the last of the O’Briens, let me put it that way.”
