According to the official synopsis, Maddie Moore (Holland Roden) works as a concierge at a Detroit Hotel and also moonlights at Detroit Free Press in their tipline department. Normally, calls come in relating to anything from alien sightings to lost cats.

However, one night, Maddie receives a cryptic call, warning of a jewelry heist. However, when she brings this tip to the police, she finds her usual contact has been replaced by a newly promoted Detective Beeks (McNally). Regrettably, despite his stellar reputation as an officer, the detective doesn’t take Maddie’s anonymous tips as seriously as his predecessor.

Meanwhile, Maddie, who always takes exhaustive notes, isn’t ready to let the tip go. Using an app that allows her to listen to the city’s police scanner, she overhears a dispatch call about a jewelry heist, involving a possible homicide. Maddie immediately connects this to the anonymous tip and rushes to the crime scene, only to be turned away by Detective Beeks.

Undeterred, Maddie decides to investigate the case on her own, sometimes using her day job as a cover. However, she keeps crossing paths with the detective. However, when Maddie’s insights prove to be useful, the detective reluctantly joins forces with her. Meanwhile, when the investigation takes a dangerous turn, Maddie starts to worry that her number might be up.
