The controversy surrounding former Hallmark star, Candace Cameron Bure continues. This, as the former Who’s the Boss star, Danny Pintauro opened up about how he was treated by Bure when he appeared on The View in 2015. In fact, he said the way she treated him on the show was “disappointing.”

Moreover, Pintauro referred to the interview with the former The View co-hosts Bure, 46, and Raven-Symoné, 37. He said it was “one of the lowest moments” of his life while speaking with David Yontef on his Behind The Velvet Rope podcast.

Pintauro, 47, revealed his HIV diagnosis and crystal meth use on Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are They Now in 2015.

Pintauro told Yontef on Tuesday’s episode of the podcast, that Bure basically said: “Do you take responsibility for getting HIV because you were living a promiscuous lifestyle?” Danny added:

And turned on the spot to my husband and said, ‘Do you have unprotected sex with your husband?’

Reportedly, it was Symoné who asked Danny’s husband, singer/actor Wil Tabares, if they use protection.

Previous controversy surrounding Candace Cameron Bure

In 2022, Bure jumped ship from Hallmark Channel to join the Great American Family network. In an interview, she said her projects with the network “will keep traditional marriage at the core.” That interview drew criticism from stars including Hilarie Burton, JoJo Siwa, while a number of other Hallmark stars who had also changed networks gave her support.

While the headlines had cooled down a bit, Danny Pintauro is now weighing in. Describing his interview on The View, he said:

I mean, it was horrifying. It was one of the lowest moments of the journey I had after coming out to Oprah.

And so it’s not surprising to me that she’s taking this stance with Christmas movies that she’s gonna be involved in.

Pintauro continued, saying that Bure must have “tons of people in her life that are LGBTQ+, at least in her past. Moreover, he said how Candace “got to this place” is a little concerning to him. In fact, he said it was almost like she went backward in a way.

The former Who’s the Boss star said he regrets appearing on The View. However, he did admit he never told Bure that she had hurt his feelings. Pintauro said:

Because I consciously chose to not make it a thing.

I’m happy to talk about it now because years have passed, and I’ve moved on from being that HIV spokesperson sort of position.

‘Love and light tour’

According to Danny, he wanted to be able to “just maintain this positive, love and light tour.” He said the last thing he really wanted to do was “just start talking c**p about her.” However, he said that maybe, in hindsight, “Well, no, she’s not gonna care, is she?” Pintauro added:

I should have known when they told me that it was just gonna be Candace and Raven-Symoné. That’s it. Neither of which are very supportive.

According to The New York Post, the former Hallmark star was featured on The View from 2015 to 2016. However, Bure claims that she had “PTSD” from co-hosting the talk show.

Meanwhile, Pintauro, in hindsight, also blames The View producers for the disappointing and uncomfortable interview. He added that he started doing some pre-calls with the producers, asking:

What are we gonna talk about? And here are some stories and some ideas, and the producers were already turning it a little bit weird.
