Danica Has Gone From Mathematician To Actress, To…
McKellar first captured the spotlight as Winnie Cooper in the beloved series The Wonder Years. Throughout her career, she has made a significant mark as a voice actress, lending her talents to characters like Miss Martian in Young Justice and Killer Frost in DC Super Hero Girls.
In recent times, she has gained recognition for her roles in numerous Hallmark productions, and she has also become a part of the Great American Family network in many Christmas-themed projects.
Beyond her acting endeavors, McKellar is celebrated for her non-fiction writing, particularly in the realm of mathematics. Her books, including Math Doesn’t Suck and Do Not Open This Math Book, are designed to inspire young girls to embrace math with enthusiasm.
Danica’s New Project-A Children’s Book
Recently, McKellar opened up about an exciting new project during a conversation with People. She is set to unveil her latest children’s book, titled I Love You 100: A Counting Book Full of Love.
While her earlier works focused on non-fiction, she has successfully ventured into the realm of children’s literature; notable previous titles include Ten Magic Butterflies and Goodnight Numbers.
In her upcoming release, McKellar tells a heartwarming tale of a mother and son enjoying a day together.
Amidst their playful activities and tidying up, the mother counts the many reasons she adores her child; as the book’s synopsis beautifully states, there is “no shortage of love.”
Danica Is Committed To Helping Children Learn And Understand Math
In a conversation with the publication, McKellar emphasized her commitment to making mathematics accessible and engaging for young audiences-she expressed her enthusiasm.
She stated, “I’m dedicated to breaking down math concepts in fun and relatable ways for children, encouraging them to celebrate their intelligence — particularly girls, who often feel disheartened by the subject.” “I Love You 100 is my twelfth McKellar Math book, and it celebrates two decades of my journey as a math author, inspiring children of all ages.
I’ve been fortunate to hear numerous success stories, including young women who once dreaded math but, after reading my books, have gone on to become engineers at NASA!”
Danica Talks About The Connection Between The Book And Her Now Teenage Son
The actress shared that she feels a personal link to the story, which her teenage son, Draco, also relates to.
She mentioned, “I Love You 100 is very special to me because it came from a game I played with my son when he was little.” “We would count to 100 together, taking turns with the numbers and saying ‘I love you’ each time. In this book, I wanted to teach kids how to count to 100 while also showing a mother’s endless love for her child, no matter how the child feels.” McKellar emphasized “It’s crucial for our children to feel deeply loved, whether they are happy or sad, well-behaved or misbehaving; that’s the core message of this book.”
