Erin Krakow Comments On Rumors About Lori Loughlin Returning To “When Calls The Heart”

Lori Loughlin was a prominent cast member of When Calls The Heart (WCTH) from Season 1 to Season 6 playing Abigail Stanton. Of course, the Hallmark Channel released Lori in March 2019 after she was arrested for her role in getting her daughters Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade falsely admitted into the University of Southern California.

In August 2020, Lori was sentenced to two months in prison, two years of supervised release, 100 hours of community service, and a fine of $150,000. It’s been five years since the scandal broke, and while what Loughlin did was terrible, she has since acknowledged her mistake, taken accountability, and paid the consequences, which begs the question – will Lori and Abigail return to WCTH, anytime soon?

It’s important to note that Lori did reprise her Abigail Stanton role for the WCTH spin-off When Hope Calls (WHC) for the Great American Family (GAF) network in 2021 when they picked up the series.

In fact, Loughlin seems very settled at Great American Family, not only working on the WCTH spin-off but also holding a lead role in the network flick, Fall Into Winter.

She was also a part of a Christmas movie lineup promotion for GAF in 2022, alongside former Full House and Fuller House co-star, Candace Cameron Bure, who left Hallmark in the spring of 2022, for GAF.

Still, with that being said, co-creator of WCTH, Brian Bird, stated in the past that he would welcome back both Lori and Abigail to the show, sometime in the future. He notes that Hope Valley should be an example of grace and forgiveness, and always a place for second chances.

He also confirmed in October 2023, during a Heart to Hearties podcast that there have been discussions on Loughlin returning to the show, but he couldn’t “guarantee” anything.

In addition, Erin Krakow (Elizabeth Thatcher) also told TV Insider this month that she supports Lori’s return. She notes that it is “obviously” tricky, and she doesn’t want to get the fans’ hopes up too high.

She states that Abigail does not return in Season 11 but would “love” it if she could come back, and it would be the “greatest”.
