Fan-Favorite WCTH Stars To Film Second Hallmark Mystery Together

Sleuthers and Hearties alike have something to truly look forward to as When Calls the Heart stars Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith are reportedly preparing to film another Hallmark Mystery movie in the Nelly Knows Mysteries series.

While Hallmark Mystery has not yet officially announced the new movie, Pascale has been chatting on Hearties podcasts about her new movie. Read on to find out what we know so far about the new mystery movie.

WCTH stars Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith to film new Nelly Knows Mysteries soon

Fan-favorite WCTH stars Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith are coming back as Nelly Parker and Detective Michael Hogan in the new, upcoming Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners of Murder. According to the industry site Creative B.C., production is set to start on Monday, March 31, and will be done by April 15.

Meanwhile, David I. Strasser is back in the director’s chair, leading the new mystery. Meanwhile, he recently directed The Wish Swap, including a cameo from Pascale. Meanwhile, Katherine Wagner also returns as the screenwriter of her original Hallmark Mystery series.

Moreover, the first Nelly Knows Mysteries movie was full of quirky humor, with Nelly an upbeat character full of whimsy. Kavan Smith’s detective is a little rough around the edges, with the street smarts of an experienced detective. However, Nelly manages to soften him to see the world through her rose-colored glasses.

 Hutton and Smith pushed for a second movie

While their first movie only came out in August, Hutton and Smith were already pushing for a second movie in the series. TV Insider quotes Pascale saying they wanted to do more, saying:

I definitely think fans and viewers will be wanting more because our relationship in the movie and in that world is just starting.

Meanwhile, she compared their characters’ relationship to “oil and water,” saying they want to explore how they fall into a relationship. However, she noted that they don’t immediately jump into a relationship and they don’t kiss, which she admits was “kind of a relief.” Pascale looked at their lack of kissing as “kind of a relief,” saying this offers “a lot of room to grow.”

Hutton and Smith are back on the When Calls the Heart set this summer

While Hutton and Smith will be filming the new Hallmark Mystery, Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners of Murders in April, the two will be back together in the summer. This is because Hallmark Channel has renewed When Calls the Heart for season 13. Due to this, the two actors will be filming this from sometime in July to mid-November.

When Calls the Heart fans know Hutton and Smith as Rosemary and Leland Coulter, who are married during the series, with their adorable baby, Goldie. Fans can no doubt look forward to more adventures in season 13, but it likely won’t be as quirky as Nelly Knows Mysteries.
