Cassie talks to Abigail about possibly teaching. Joy comes into the kitchen. She just received “one year” ago reminder. They get. To talking about her old boyfriend and their bad luck. Abigail can relate.

Sam talks with Adam about his diagnosis. He has a tumor and Sam wants to do surgery tomorrow. Adam is surprised at how soon.

Abigail tells Joy about the crack in the heart and her curse. Martha is with them. They are all looking at the jewelry box. They find another riddle-like message they didn’t see before. They may. Now how to break the curse.

Adam tells Stephanie the news at the cafe. She will be there to support him. Joy arrives at Abby’s shop. She knows a cryptologist that may help them with the curse. A professor arrives to buy more chocolates. She reveals they are one professor down.

Martha and Cassie talk. Her son’s wife Claire is coming to visit. Cassie thinks they will have plenty of quality time.

Joy and Carter work at the mansion. He is in a bad mood. He is having relationship problems. His girlfriend wants him to go to dinner with her boss. He doesn’t want to go. Joy tries to give him advice. Meanwhile, Abby tells Cassie about a job opening at the college.

Martha’s son arrives with Claire. They reveal they are expecting. The family is thrilled. Meanwhile, Sam and Cassie talk about Adam. She tells him about her possible teaching job. She is nervous. He knows she is going to get the job.

Martha learns at lunch with Claire that she is expecting a girl. She also shares that Dylan received a promotion.

Abby and Donovan head to meet a cryptologist and break down. Meanwhile, Joy brings Carter a suit for his date. He tries it on. It fits perfectly.

Abby and Donovan sit stranded talking about the curse. They may have an idea. Cassie meets with a professor for an interview. After, she gets to talking with students in the cafeteria and teaches them a few things.

Stephanie and Adam play go Fish before his surgery. Abby and Donovan find a plaque at the broken down train station. It has the same year on it as the curse.

Claire and Martha visit Cassie’s store. Cassie has a great blanket for the baby but Claire doesn’t like the color.

Abby and Donovan finally get a phone signal. Joy brings Cassie a pizza. Cassie gets the call she didn’t get the job. They sit and eat pizza.

Sam and Adam talk before his surgery. Sam tells them they should take a ride. Meanwhile, Cassie brings a gift to Martha for the baby. Martha shares how dealing with Claire can be challenging. Cassie points out a few things about their relationship and Martha’s own to her mother in law that has Martha thinking.

Abby and Donovan arrive at a clock tower as they try to solve the riddle. They find a monocle. Meanwhile, Joy plays with Cassie’s mandala she was going to bring to her first class. Joy talks about creating a meditation studio.

Sam pushes Adam through the hospital grounds while they talk about his surgery. Abby and Donovan feel like the day was a waste having not solved their curse.

Cassie gets a knock at the door. It is the professor. She wants to offer her the job after all. Martha meets with Claire and apologizes. They agree not to challenge one another and love each other. They are family.

Joy finds Carter at the mansion. He shares that he and his girl broke him. She wants someone who wears a suit and that isn’t him. He thanks her for the help. They get to work sanding together.

Abby and Donovan show Sam what they found. He shares that he is missing a piece. Meanwhile, Stephanie finds Adam in the hospital chapel. They sit together.

Sam admires Cassie’s mandala.
