Hallmark Channel – Series The Way Home Features Chyler Leigh

Grey’s Anatomy fans will remember Chyler Leigh from her role as Dr. Lexie Grey in Grey’s Anatomy. She left the ABC show in season 8 when her character died in a plane crash with costar Eric Dane as Dr. Mark Sloan. However, her fans will be thrilled that Leigh is back in a new role, starring with Andie MacDowell in The Way Home.

The new, original Hallmark Channel primetime series is slated to begin production later this month and is set to premiere in 2023. The series has a time travel twist, with Leigh playing the character Kat Landry. She left her small, Canadian farm town of Port Haven many years ago after a family tragedy. Meanwhile, she remains estranged from her mother Del (MacDowell) to this day.

However, when her marriage comes to an end, and she is laid off from her job, Kat decides to return home. The decision came after she received an unexpected letter from Del, urging her to come home.  Meanwhile, even though her 15-year-old daughter Alice isn’t too happy, Kat and her daughter arrive at the family’s farm. However, the family reunion isn’t quite what Kat had envisioned.

As the three generations of women work to find their footing as a family, they embark on an enlightening and surprising journey they could never have imagined.

Cast Of The Hallmark Primetime Series

As previously reported, Andie MacDowell plays the role of Del Landry. She previously led the cast of Cedar Grove, Hallmark Channel’s first TV series. She also starred in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, St. Elmo’s Fire and Sex, Lies and Videotape. More recently, Andie played the role of the ditzy artist mother in the critically acclaimed series Maid, where she played opposite her real-life daughter, Alex (Margaret Qualley).

Meanwhile, Leigh is best known for her role as Dr. Lexie Grey on Grey’s Anatomy. However, as noted by Deadline, she also starred as Alex Danvers on The Flash, Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for CW.

The Way Home is the first primetime series ordered under the leadership of Lisa Hamilton Daly. Daly is the executive vice president of programming for Crown Media Family Networks. Speaking of the new series, Daly said:

The series is executive produced by Marly Reed and Arnie Zipursky for Neshama Entertainment. Meanwhile, Larry Grimaldi, Hannah Pillemer and Fernando Szew of MarVista Entertainment and Heather Conkie, Andie MacDowell, Alexandra Clark and Chyler Leigh also involved.
