Hallmark Alum Danica McKellar Doesn’t Believe Lori Loughlin Deserved To Go To Prison

Danica McKellarIn a recent interview, former Hallmark star Danica McKellar spoke of her move to GAC Family and her good friend, Lori Loughlin.

As fans know, former Hallmark star Lori Loughlin spent two months behind bars for her part in the college admissions scandal. She was found guilty of paying a $500,000 bribe to get her daughters accepted by USC. However, her good friend and fellow Hallmark alum Danica McKellar doesn’t think Lori deserved to go to prison.

After Lori Loughlin returned to the screen a year after her sentencing in the college admissions scandal, many were shocked at how quickly she was welcomed back. Meanwhile, Hallmark Channel had dropped its ties with the Full House actress and Loughlin moved to GAC Family.

In an interview with Insider, a fellow Hallmark alum Danica McKellar said she doesn’t believe that Lori deserved to go behind bars. She said that Loughlin is a “wonderful person” and that she always has been. However, she added that it would be challenging to find any person who hasn’t made a mistake in their life.

Danica said that Loughlin served her time and that she wasn’t going to speak as to whether or not she deserved it. However, she added that, personally, she doesn’t think so.

Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli pleaded guilty in May 2020. At the time, Lori called her part in the college admissions scandal an “awful decision.” Loughlin was released in December 2020.

Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty in May 2020, admitting they paid Singer $500,000 to guarantee their daughters’ admissions to the University of Southern California. Loughlin, who called it an “awful decision,” was sentenced to two months in prison and released in December 2020.

However, one year later, the Full House star appeared on the GAC Family spinoff series, When Hope Calls. In fact, she reprised her role in the Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart.

Danica McKellar was one of the biggest stars to leave Hallmark Channel for GAC Family. She said of the move that she was happy to be back on the same network as Loughlin. Speaking more of Lori’s character, she said Loughlin has donated so much money since that time to fund education for many kids. Danica said she couldn’t love her more and that she has always thought that way,

McKellar also spoke to Insider about her move to GAC Family, a new network launched in 2021 by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott. She said that she has done 16 movies for Hallmark and that she loved her time there. However, with GAC Family, she gets a much more hands-on role with executive producing. In fact, Danica said it was really exciting to sign a multi-picture deal with the new network and be creating movies.

    You have people in Hollywood who have done way worse (looking at you, Baldwin), and no jail time.

    People in D.C. have done way worse than Lori, and no jail time. So in a way, Danica has a point.
