Find out how beloved classic author Jane Austen inspired the Hallmark Channel’s four-week February film festival below. Plus: Get the news about a new book club!
Hallmark News – Honoring Jane Austen
Jane Austen becomes the inspiration for the newest offerings from the Hallmark Channel. And to celebrate the classic novelist’s unique blend of romance and witty humor, Hallmark has come up with something special for February 2024, per News 5.
Lovers of Jane Austen’s novels cherish the author’s ability to create memorable characters along with clever plots that weave romance with comedy. And although the Hallmark Channel specializes in contemporary romantic comedies, the network also has offered everything from historical dramas to mysteries.
As a result, the Hallmark Channel will celebrate Jane Austen for a full month. And fans can prepare for what the network has branded “Loveuary with Jane Austen.” And that means movies airing throughout February that all offer a virtual hat tip to the beloved author.
Hallmark News – Four Films Celebrate Jane Austen
Four original new movies will air in February, the month of love, on the Hallmark Channel. And the network revealed that each film takes its inspiration from classic novelist Jane Austen.
The first film in the Hallmark Channel’s “Loveuary with Jane Austen” will debut on February. And “Paging Mr. Darcy” features Mallory Jansen and Will Kemp. The two team up for a romance involving a scholar worried about a Jane Austen conference. Set to make the keynote speech, the scholar encounters the conference’s Mr. Darcy. Prepare for a twist on Austen’s tale of another Mr. Darcy!
And on February 10, the Hallmark Channel will offer the premiere of “Love and Jane.” Featuring Alison Sweeney and Benjamin Ayres, the movie follows a woman who gets advice from a novelist. But what happens when that novelist just happens to be the one and only Jane Austen?
And that leads to the question of whether any man can equal the perfection of Jane Austen’s portrayal of Mr. Darcy. The Hallmark Channel will try to answer that question in the film “An American in Austen” on February 17. And Eliza Bennett co-stars with Nicholas Bishop and Nell Barlow.
Hallmark News – Jane Austen Book Club Forms
But how to wrap up the month of love? The Hallmark Channel will debut the film “Sense and Sensibility” on February 24. And the network’s version of Jane Austen’s book features Deborah Ayorinde, Bethany Antonia, Dan Jeannotte and Akil Largie.
But those longing for more can join the Hallmark Channel Book Club sessions. And the group will discuss the most popular Jane Austen books. For instance, the Hallmark Channel Book Club will explore “Pride and Prejudice” on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. ET. And the network’s Chief Fan Officer, Jenny Forwark will lead the virtual discussion of “Sense and Sensibility” on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. ET.
