Hallmark Channel: Bad News For When Calls The Heart Fans

US based Hearties who have been longing for the sixth season of the Hallmark series to be available on Netflix are set to be disappointed.

Fans have been waiting for a while now for season 6 of When Calls the Heart to be available for streaming on Netflix. On January 30, Hearties around the world were thrilled to find it was available on their favorite streaming service, but US fans do not yet have the pleasure.

An announcement was made on January 30 on the official When Calls the Heart Instagram account to the effect that some countries had access to season 6 on Netflix. Fans were pointed to the show’s official Instagram page, where they asked fans who had access to the previous season to comment to let them know.

Among the countries that do have access to season 6, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Italy, Japan, the Philippines, Portugal and South Africa all came up. However, the US and Canada are both out of luck.

For those who do not have access to the Hallmark Channel, the option of streaming on Netflix is a real boon. Many had never had the opportunity to watch season 6 before. However, there are also those, particularly in the US, who want to binge-watch the season prior to the premiere of season 7 on February 23.

So far, Hearties in the US can binge seasons 1-5 of When Calls the Heart on Netflix, but are missing out on season 6. One fan commented on the Instagram post to say it was definitely not available in the US, adding they always binge the previous season to catch up before the new one begins. Other Instagram Hearties were more magnanimous, writing they are happy people elsewhere in the world can now enjoy the show.

However, things are even worse for Hearties living in Canada, as so far only season 1 -4 of WCTH is available on Netflix there. This is, of course, pretty ironic, considering the show is filmed in that country! On the other hand, Canadian fans do have access on the Super Channel Heart & Home, which will also air the new season 7 when it premieres in February.

For those who don’t realize, Netflix streams series and films differently, depending on the user’s country. This is usually due to rights problems and regional tastes. The When Calls the Heart Instagram account closed by saying there is no news as yet as to when season 6 will be available for US fans on Netflix, but confirmed that as soon as they hear, they will share the good news.

It’s not all bad news of course as Hearties can look forward to the premiere of WCTH season 7 on February 23 on the Hallmark Channel!
