Laura Osnes is known for her role in the Hallmark Channel Christmas movie, One Royal Holiday. She will also be appearing in a new Hallmark film this fall. However, the actress is also a Broadway musical star. News recently did the rounds that Osnes had been fired from a musical production due to not having been vaccinated.
Laura Osnes Denied Being Fired
Laura Osnes has starred in the Hallmark Christmas movie, One Royal Holiday. She has also starred in A Killer Party: A Murder Mystery Musical, Dynasty, A Homecoming for the Holidays, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and many more.
Osnes has also featured in a number of Broadway musicals, including South Pacific, Bandstand and Bonnie and Clyde. However, after reports claimed that Osnes had been fired from a one-night benefit concert in East Hampton NY, due to her refusal to get a COVID-19 vaccine, she has spoken up in denial.
Laura was set to perform in the August 29 production of song selections from a planned Broadway revival of the musical Crazy for You. The production is scheduled to happen at the Guild Hall in East Hampton and is directed by Susan Stroman.
Vaccine Drama
Last week, the New York Post reported that Osnes was fired from the show after refusing to get vaccinated. Laura has denied the claim that she was fired, stating that the report was inaccurate. She made a post on Instagram, where she claims she withdrew from the production after finding out that safety “protocols had changed.”
In the post, included below, Laura wrote that she was disappointed, but responded that she would have to withdraw, as she had not yet had the vaccine.
Co-star Tony Yazbeck did not raise concern
The Post’s article claimed that her co-star, Tony Yazbeck, had raised concerns over her unvaccinated status. Laura wrote that none of her cast mates had “pressed” her on the subject. She wrote that it was a “drama-free and discrete [sic] transition.” After withdrawing from the show, Osnes was replaced by actress Sierra Boggess.
While Laura had said she simply had “not yet gotten the vaccine,” she did write more about her refusal to get vaccinated. “Every soul is entitled to live according to their convictions and work without being publicly ostracized,” she writes. “My conviction does not discount my care and commitment to safety during this unprecedented time.”
Family Strong
“I stand by the decision my husband [photographer Nathan Johnson] and I, with input from our physician, have made for ourselves, our family planning, and our future. There is much that is still unknown,” she wrote.
Contrary to reports, Osnes also said she was not given the option to take a COVID-19 test instead of a vaccination. She said she would have tested “in a heartbeat,” as this is something she has been doing for months and will continue to do, to keep working safely.
Hallmark Movie For Laura Osnes
As previously reported, while Osnes won’t be in the musical production, she will play the lead in a new Hallmark movie, premiering this fall. She is set to star in the September 18 film, Raise a Glass to Love on the Hallmark Channel, alongside her co-star Juan Pablo di Pace.
