Hallmark Channel Cancels ‘Good Witch,’ Catherine Bell Claps Back!

Hallmark Channel Good Witch: Catherine Bell Hallmark Channel apparently no longer believes in the goodness of witches.  The streaming service announced on July 9 that the beloved show, “Good Witch,” has become a victim of cancel culture.

The cancellation occurred despite the popularity of the Hallmark movie spin-off.  Find out when the last show will air plus what Good Witch star Catherine Bell shared below!

Hallmark Channel  News – Reveals ‘Good Witch’ Finale Date

Since its debut in 2015, Good Witch has developed a growing fan base. One reason for its popularity has nothing to do with witchcraft and everything to do with the acting talents of its star, Catherine Bell.

Fans of Bell in “Good Witch” will want to mark the following date on their calendars: Sunday, July 25.

That’s when the Hallmark Channel will broadcast the grand finale of season 7, according to TV Line, which also revealed that season 8 has been cancelled.

In a statement, a senior vice-president discussed the cancellation and expressed appreciation to the stars of Good Witch.

“Good Witch has enchanted viewers for over a decade with eight original movies, in addition to the seven-season series,” stated Randy Pope, SVP, programming and development at Hallmark.

“We thank our leads whose chemistry and talent made Good Witch such a beloved and uniquely special viewing experience: Catherine Bell, who has brought the inimitable Cassie Nightingale to life for 13 years, and James Denton, who as Dr. Sam Radford has added so much charm and humor to the series.”

Pope also shared his appreciation for the cast and crew.

“We also extend our gratitude and thanks to the entire cast and crew for their dedication and hard work,” added the Hallmark Channel VP.

Good Witch Star Catherine Bell Claps Back At Cancellation On Instagram

Turning to Instagram, Good Witch star Catherine Bell served up the perfect response to the cancellation.

Rather than pout (or concoct an evil witch spell!), Bell posted a Dr. Seuss quote: “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened!”

The Good Witch actress expressed her gratitude for both the TV show and the movies.

“I am so grateful for 7 seasons… and 13 years (of movies) of being a part of Good Witch, working with the KINDEST and most talented, cast & crew, producers, network! It has always felt like family,” wrote Catherine.

Bell also reflected on what she has learned from her Good Witch character.

“Cassie Nightingale… a woman who is always positive, inspiring and uplifting. Someone who brings out the best in everyone she meets, makes life better for everyone around, and always sees the glass half FULL. She has inspired me to be a better person, to be kinder, gentler, more loving and accepting,” added the actress.

And rather than feel angry or upset, Catherine shared her reasons for staying positive about the cancellation.

“I feel so fortunate. I know we will all miss the Good Witch and all the amazing chracters and stories. But I am definitely smiling because it happened. With love, respect and so much gratitude, CB ❤️”

Hallmark Channel Unveils Good Witch Finale Details And Movie Spin-Offs

In announcing the cancellation, the Hallmark Channel also dished up a tasty serving of what the Good Witch finale will offer viewers.

The July 25 conclusion to Good Witch is titled “The Wedding.” Look for the Merriwick cousins to prepare to confront the mystery of what’s making their family legacy at risk. And learn what changes await the other characters.

As for whether the Hallmark Channel will provide TV movie spin-offs of the Good Witch? A representative said no plans exist at this time for such films. But the actors themselves could return to the streaming service.

“Catherine Bell, James Denton and Katherine Barrell, among others, are members of the Hallmark Channel family, and we are in discussions on future projects,” added the rep.

I’m very sad to see this show go. The new writer wasn’t as good as the old one , but still gave me a show that wasn’t negative to watch. I hope you reconsider giving up on it!

This last season was really bad maybe it was due to the fact that it was hard because of Covid but the stories were so trite. The characters were also very boring storylines just had no depth. The actors did great with what they had to work with. I am sorry to see it go because I know it could be better the amulet story is so bad that I don’t even understand what’s going on

We love the movies, but this last season and new characters not best work. Loved when show story line did not take all season to finish plot. Hopefully part of show can come back some how.

I have loved the Good Witch from the very start but unfortunately I have to say I haven't really enjoyed this new season as much. It got really boring with mostly focusing on 4 women of almost the same age and their love life. And Sam was getting to be such a egotistical big head, has to be great at everything zzz, down to earth first husband Jake was much better and more relatable. I really liked his stories with his children and grandpa. It was much better with the various age groups, their ordinary life struggles assisted by Cassie's charm which had us wondering is it really magic or just good old fashioned intuition and kindness. I would have liked it to have continued but only with the original magic.

They seem to get rid of all the good shows and show the ‘gory’ shows and shows with no good in them! Soon there will be no need to watch TV. At least Hallmark has some good movies
