Good news is out from Hallmark Channel as actress Andie MacDowell is to star in a new primetime series dubbed The Way Home. Meanwhile, the new series follows the lives of three generations of women in a single family. To make things even more exciting, there is even time travel involved in their story. Andie MacDowell is set to play the lead in the new Hallmark original primetime series, The Way Home. The new series recently received the green light and will feature the lives of three generations of the Landry women, complete with a time travel twist.

Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive VP of Programming for Crown Media Family Networks recently made the announcement. “One of my passions is developing series and it’s beyond thrilling to spearhead the development of The Way Home and others for Crown Media,” she said.

Hallmark Channel News – More About The Plot Of The New Series
Kat Landry, her 15-year-old daughter Alice and her estranged mother Del (Andie MacDowell) are all strong, willful and independent women. However, more than 20 years ago, life-changing events created a crack in the family that time has yet to repair.
Meanwhile, Kat and Del are still not on speaking terms and Alice has never met her grandmother. In fact, she is totally unaware of the reasons for their fractured family. However, when the three generations of the family unexpectedly come together under the same roof for the first time in 20 years, a surprising discovery happens. This unexpectedly sets the three women on a path toward healing and also helps them to find their way back to each other.
Hallmark Channel News – Cast And Premiere Date Of The Way Home
So far, only Andie MacDowell has been confirmed in the role of Del, the Landry matriarch in The Way Home.
Equally, no exact date has yet been announced for the debut of the series, but it will premiere at some stage in 2023. Meanwhile, it is expected that season 1 will have 10 episodes, although this has not been confirmed. As noted by Parade, filming of The Way Home is set to start this summer in Ontario, Canada.

The series will be executive-produced by Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke, the mother-daughter team who worked on Heartland. They work together with MarVista Entertainment and Neshama Entertainment, who were involved in Finding Father Christmas, A Godwink Christmas and Bottled With Love.
Hannah Pillemer, an executive VP of creative affairs at MarVista, also spoke about the new exciting project. She said:
We were all drawn to this extraordinary, unique story of three generations of women, haunted by tragedy and past secrets, who discover an ability to travel through time and potentially change their future.
Lisa and her team at Crown Media have been incredible champions of this series that is sure to charm and enrapture, and we are thrilled to partner with them to bring it to the screen.

Before taking on the role of Del in The Way Home, Andie MacDowell previously led the cast of Cedar Cove, Hallmark Channel’s first foray into TV series. She has previously starred in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, St. Elmo’s Fire and Sex, Lies and Videotape.
