Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel spoilers tease that Hollywood stars have begun embracing Hallmark’s Christmas movies after once dismissing them roundly as a place to showcase their talents!
Once Upon A Time, Hollywood’s Actors And Actresses Wouldn’t Consider Hallmark
It has not been all that long ago that actors would have considered appearing in a Hallmark Channel movie something that should not appear on any resume or on their IMDB pages. However, times and attitudes have changed, and Hallmark has no problem at all attracting even big name talent to its ever-growing lineup of movies, and especially Christmas movies!
Some Very Familiar Names Appear In Hallmark Christmas Movies This Christmas Season
There are some very familiar names that will appear in Hallmark Christmas movies this Christmas season, such as Danica McKellar, Jodie Sweetin, and Tia Mowry. All three will be appearing in Christmas movies featured in the Hallmark annual Countdown to Christmas holiday extravaganza!
Hallmark Channel’s Christmas movies now have officially entered the zeitgeist, although from an actor’s standpoint they may appear cheesy and formulaic; the fact is these movies are very popular and their mass appeal erases any stigma they may have attached to them. Many actors found their comebacks through Hallmark movie appearances, including Tia Mowry, Rachel Leigh Cook, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Lacey Chabert, Danica McKellar, Holly Robinson Peete, Nikki DeLoach, Jen Lilley, Chad Michael Murray and Trevor Donovan.
Hallmark Is Consistently The Highest-Rated Cable Network In the Fourth Quarter Each Year
As E! News recently pointed out, thanks entirely to its Christmas programming, Hallmark is consistently the highest-rated cable network in the fourth quarter of every year. Hallmark movies attracted an average audience of 3.5 million viewers each in 2018. This year’s Annual Countdown To Christmas – the tenth annual Christmas extravaganza – is packed with forty new movies across three channels and promises to be bigger than ever, with stars appearing such as Kristin Chenoweth and Dolly Parton.
The Stars Like Hallmark’s Constantly Improving Production Value
The stars also like Hallmark’s constantly improving production value; Hallmark is investing much more money in their movies than they used to, and that includes paying their stars! According to Crown Media (the parent company of Hallmark) CEO and president, William J. Abbott, in a interview with Glamour Magazine, Hallmark’s movies are so much better because so much is invested in the stars, the music, the scriptwriting, and every other area involved in making quality programming and movies. Plus the actors enjoy being involved in a wholesome cultural experience! In a 2018 interview with “The Hollywood Reporter”, actor Kris Polaha shared the reason he decided to embrace the Hallmark Channel after starring in big-screen blockbusters. He is quoted as saying, “As an actor, I am leaning into Hallmark because it’s fun to sit with my seven-year-old and show him what I do for a living. These are family-friendly movies,” Polaha, 41, wrote. “I’m leaning in because my 91-year-old Nana finally thinks I’ve made it in Hollywood because I’m on Hallmark. People her age remember the stores and the tangible products of a major household name brand. I’m leaning into them because they are leaning into me and showing me the love,” he continued. “So, I encourage you, if you haven’t indulged yet, perhaps this is your year to go where the love is.” Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown To Christmas” officially kicked off last weekend, and viewers can enjoy heartwarming new Christmas movies every Saturday and Sunday through New Year’s Eve.
