Bure has permission to enter Canada because she’s considered an essential worker. In Vancouver, the film industry provides 700,000 jobs and funnels $3 trillion into the economy. When you look at those numbers just in that city, it’s easy to understand why it’s essential.

According to Entertainment Tonight, this production alone has 200 workers on set. If actors were not allowed to cross the border, production couldn’t continue. The actress explained, “… for people who are wondering, we know the border is closed. But in British Columbia, the film industry is up and running. They have so many productions up here. And without their lead actors, they can’t work on these films. So that’s why they are giving us the work visas to come up here … it’s all government-approved.”

After Bure has completed Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, she will head to the set for a new Hallmark Christmas movie, If I Only Had Christmas. Under normal circumstances, she would be traveling between the Vancouver set and her home in Southern California. However, due to the pandemic safety regulations, she is staying in Canada until all of her work is done.

Bure explained that since she was staying in Canada for an extended period of time, she had to bring everything, including food. She’s not allowed to go anywhere, not even to the grocery store. “I have a whole suitcase that’s just food, which sounds crazy!”

Everyone that is given permission to cross the border must immediately enter quarantine for 14 days. When she completes her mandatory lockdown, she will go to the set. Due to the COVID filming protocol, shooting takes longer than it used to. You can’t have everyone in the same room together anymore.
