Fans of the popular Hallmark Channel Original show Chesapeake Shores will be thrilled to hear the series has been renewed for its fifth season. The show will be filmed in the Qualicum Beach area, Nanaimo and Parksville on Vancouver Island, as well as the surrounding areas.
Chesapeake Shores renewed for season 5
Not only is Chesapeake Shores is one of the most popular original series on the Hallmark Channel, the show also contributes to the economy of the area. A large number of crew members are hired locally, which helps put money into the regional economy.
Joan Miller of the Vancouver Island North Film Commission said that having the series returning each year is a little like “winning the lottery.” She said any time filming is done outside the major filming areas like Los Angeles, this is a boon, as they hire their crew wherever possible locally.
Tourism boost from Chesapeake Shores
Miller went on to say that not only does filming the series there benefit the area economically. She said the cast and crew are so impressed with Vancouver Island that they talk about it on social media. This helps the area’s tourism no end.
Joan said there are big benefits to be had when people are popular on social media and are talking about what a great place it is to both live and work in. This goes way beyond the benefits of the production crew renting local hotels and services.
Miller did mention that producers are seeking more warehouse space in the area and that the Vancouver Island Film Studios are currently full up. She went on to ask anyone who had available warehouse space to get in touch on 250-287-2772.
Chesapeake Shores stars Jesse Metcalfe as Trace Riley, Meghan Ory as Abby O’Brien, Treat Williams as Mick O’Brien, Barbara Niven as Megan O’Brien, Diane Ladd as Nell O’Brien, Laci Mailey as Jess O’Brien, Brendan Penny as Kevin O’Brien, Emilie Ullerup as Bree O’Brien and Andrew Francis as Connor O’Brien.
Production and release dates of Chesapeake Shores season 5 are as yet unknown.
