Hallmark Channel News: Culinary Related Movie ‘The Secret Ingredient’ Airs In February

One of four new, romantic original movies on the Hallmark Channel speaks of chemistry at a Valentine’s Day Bake-Off.

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, the Hallmark Channel is premiering four original movies during February. “The Secret Ingredient” is culinary related and stars Erin Cahill (“Power Rangers Time Force,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Saving Grace” and the ABC series “Red Widow”). She plays opposite Brendan Penny, known for his role as A.J. Varland in the first season of “Whistler.” In the story, both actors are meeting up again as contestants in a Valentine’s Day Bake-Off.

Is ‘The Secret Ingredient’ love?

“The Secret Ingredient” enjoys its world premiere on the Hallmark Channel on the day after Valentine’s Day, on Saturday, February 15 at ET/PT.

A brief synopsis of the new, original movie tells the story of Kelly (Cahill), a bakery owner who used to be engaged to Andrew (Penny). Andrew had ended their relationship to head off to a culinary school in Paris, France, breaking her heart in the process. Since then, Kelly hasn’t thought much about love, but things are about to change.

Kelly is still smarting from the breakup of their relationship when she gets selected as a contestant in the Valentine’s Day Bake-Off. The big problem comes when it turns out Andrew has also been selected for the contest. During the contest, none of the contestants meet up until the final stage, when only two contestants were left. You’ve guessed it – Kelly and Andrew are the two contestants competing in the final round.

As feelings reemerge and their chemistry does its magic trick, this can only lead to sadness, as Andrew heads off to Paris again. This is especially after they have both discovered the secret ingredient which should make him stay – love.

The film is based on the book “The Secret Ingredient,” written by USA Today bestselling author, Nancy Naigle and is the first film adaptation of an original novel released by Hallmark Publishing.
