Hallmark Channel news confirms that the network is getting some heat. On Instagram, it announced that episodes of “Little House on the Prairie” would air on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Some viewers were not happy about the programming decision. Here’s why the wholesome classic TV show is making some Hearties so flaming mad.
‘Little House On The Prairie’ Announcement
Hallmark Channel news from the network’s official Instagram account states that on January 24, there was a special announcement. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is the new home for the classic TV series, “Little House on the Prairie.” According to the current programming schedule, that means each weekday, three episodes of the show will air consecutively.
“We have some exciting news – #LittleHouseOnThePrairie has a new home starting tomorrow! Join us for adventures on the prairie weekdays at 1pm/12c”
Hearties Say No!
There were some positive comments on social media regarding “Little House on the Prairie” being added to the programming schedule. However, there were also a lot of people that were less than impressed. There were a few different reasons for the criticism. A few people pointed out that the show was already airing on several channels, including UPtv and Cozi TV. It is also available to stream at no charge on IMDbTV. Others mentioned that they watch the channel because of the mystery specialization. They noted that the classic program was not in the mystery category.
“Not a movie or a mystery. So many other mystery shows they could play. Why not some of the older Hallmark mystery series?”
“Enough of Little House. Every channel seems to have it on. There are so many older shows that can be played. And if you play it do it for one hour as intended when it originally aired.”
Evolution And Growth Of Network
The Hallmark Channel is known for it’s family-friendly and feel-good movies. It has evolved over the years. In 2020, they had a few movies that weren’t just about Christmas, but about Hanukkah as well. They also have successfully added TV shows like “When Calls the Heart,” “Chesapeake Shores,” and “The Good Witch” being popular.
Right Network, Wrong Channel
The Hallmark Channel is where there is an assortment of programming, which would be appropriate for “Little House on the Prairie.” Another option is Hallmark Drama, which features shows like “The Waltons,” “Touched By an Angel,” and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.” Hallmark Movies & Mysteries was created to satisfy a certain group of viewers… those who love the mystery genre. So, we understand why viewers didn’t approve of the programming decision.
What do you think of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries adding “Little House on the Prairie” to the weekday schedule? Are you a fan of the classic series or do you feel that it belongs on the Hallmark Channel or Hallmark Drama?

If you are going to show Little house, make it an hour a day, not taking up all the prime time slots. I can watch it elsewhere if I want to.
