Kristen Chenoweth brings her musical talent to the Hallmark Hall of Fame holiday movie, ‘A Christmas Story.’ Directed by Eric Close (‘Nashville’), the movie also stars Scott Wolf (‘Party of Five,’ ‘The Night Shift’). The movie was filmed in Charlotte, N.C., The Knight Theater serving as the backdrop for the youth choir’s Christmas performance.
Youth choir director Katherine (Kristen Chenoweth) is preparing her students for their annual Christmas Eve show and discovers a new teen volunteer, Danny (Kevin Quinn), has an incredible voice. When she loses one of her main vocalists, Katherine tries to enlist Danny for the performance, despite his widower father Greg’s (Scott Wolf) insistence that Danny focuses on college applications instead.
Determined to convince Greg to let his son perform, Katherine drives to the family home to make her case and ends up spending the night with them as snowstorm approaches. Successful in her efforts to get Greg’s blessing, Katherine is also a bit surprised by the chemistry she’s feeling with him and a budding romance also develops.
However, just days before the big performance, Katherine discovers a life-changing secret Danny’s been keeping from her and his father which threatens to undermine this new relationship.
In a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the ‘A Christmas Love Story’ set, Kristen explains, “I play Katherine, who is a former Broadway star, and turned into a choir director. [Katherine] is changing the lives of these young kids through music, which is her love and passion.”
A very proud Eric Close is happy to give Halmarkies a quick look at the filming of the final scene of ‘A Christmas Love Story.’ Standing behind the scenes as the cameras roll, Eric revealed, “This is the day I’ve been waiting for because this whole day is our final performance, the finale of the movie. We get to hear all these amazing songs, and all the voices coming together.” Viewers are in for a treat with a very special duet.
Scott revealed, “This movie has all the things people have come to expect. It has love, it has family, it has romance.” Kristen believes there’s even more to the movie. “It’s a great message of what families, all different kinds of families, may look like. Families are DNA, and also what we’ve chosen. That’s kind of a big message in the film too.”
The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie ‘A Christmas Love Story, part of Hallmark Channel’s 10th Anniversary Countdown to Christmas, premieres Sunday, December 7, 2019, at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT.
