Hallmark Channel News: Should WCTH Film Additional Episodes? Many More Stories To Tell

Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow)

‘When Calls the Heart’ seventh season will bring changes to Hope Valley, and there doesn’t seem to be enough time to reveal all the stories that need to be told. Should the Hallmark Channel expand the number of episodes filmed each season?

The Hallmark Channel, in the past, has filmed 10 episodes and a Christmas special of the network’s number one series. Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) and Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin) have been the focal point of ‘WCTH.’ Hearties have gotten to know Bill Avery (Jack Wagner), Rosemary Coulter (Pascale Hutton), and Lee Coulter (Kavan Smith), as well.

‘When Calls the Heart’ season 7 spoilers have yet to reveal whether or not the role of Abigail has been recast or if she has been written out. The fate of Cody Stanton (Carter Ryan Evancic) is also unknown.

Hearties are eager to know more about Henry Gowen (Martin Cummins). Hearties now know Henry took the blame for the coal mine collapse. Bill Avery found an old telegram that exonerates Henry the former mayor. Why didn’t Henry tell the townspeople he was innocent of any wrongdoing?

Clara Stanton (Eva Bourne), Abigail’s daughter-in-law, came to Hope Valley during ‘When Calls the Heart’ second season. ‘WCTH’ season 7 spoilers indicate Clara will marry longtime beau Jesse Flynn (Aren Buchholz). We know some of Jesse’s background, enough to understand why he put off proposing to Clara for so long. Hearties are waiting to see what the future holds for Jesse and Clara.

Hearties are also invested in Dr. Carter Shepard (Paul Greene) and nurse Faith Carter’s (Andrea Brooks) courtship. As with Jack and Elizabeth, their romance has unfolded slowly, and Hearties are eager for them to start their lives together.

Rosemary and Lee have always been happy, always there or Elizabeth whenever she needs them. But, there is a piece to the Coulters story that weighs on the minds of Hearties is will the couple be able to have children of their own? What will happen to Lee’s lumber business now that his employees have decided to work for Henry’s oil company?

There are three new residents in Hope Valley whose stories are just beginning to unfold. Fiona Miller (Kayla Wallace) arrived in town when the new-fangled telephone did. The switchboard operator has made friends and attracted a little bit of attention from the single gentlemen in Hope Valley.

That brings us to the two new men in Hope Valley, both of whom appear to be vying for Elizabeth’s affections. Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) a dark-haired charmer with a mysterious past. He bought the saloon sight unseen, came to town and caused quite a stir.

Along came Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and his niece Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller). Everyone knew a new Mountie would be assigned to Hope Valley, but it was a bittersweet day when Nathan arrived.

As the children grow from youngsters into their teen years, Hearties will see a new generation of Hope Valley residents pairing off, starting lives and families.

Is it possible to tell all the tales of Hope Valley in only 10 episodes each season? Is it time for Hallmark Channel to order more episodes of the beloved series ‘When Calls the Heart’?
