Just last week, fans watched the holiday special When Calls the Heart: Home for Christmas. However, there was one familiar face missing. Abigail Stanton (formerly Lori Loughlin) did not appear. Some viewers wonder if she will ever come back, but don’t count on it. Showrunner Alfonso H. Moreno addressed the absence and hinted that she won’t be returning.

After Loughlin’s part in a college admissions scandal went viral, it seemed that any information on What Calls the Heart, including the Christmas movie, seemed to stop. In fact, the actress was fired by the Hallmark Channel in March 2019. In a statement, the family-friendly network said they were saddened by the scandals. Despite entering a not guilty plea, Hallmark stated that they would no longer work with her.

Abigail Stanton Won’t Be Returning

Even though some When Calls the Heart fans would love to see Abigail return, it was teased to Entertainment Tonight that won’t be happening. The showrunner addressed how viewers miss Abigail, then said they were moving the show forward. That seems like a pretty big clue that they aren’t interested in looking back.
“I think the town of Hope Valley, like the fans of the show, miss Abigail. For both, it is about embracing the past, but learning to move forward.”

When the Heart Calls Fans React

On social media, some fans argued that Loughlin shouldn’t be allowed to return.
