Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol was published more than 175 years ago in 1875 and, since that day, there have been hundreds of tributes to the classic novella. Well, The Hallmark Channel has finally joined the fray and produced their own take on the timeless ghost story.
Curious? Read on and we’ll tell you what to expect from Hallmark Channel’s A Dickens of a Holiday! We’ll even share with you a Parade exclusive sneak peek via K.L. Connie Wang.
Hallmark Channel Spoilers – Not A Ghost Story But A Love Story
As the new story goes, in the fictitious town of Dickens, Ohio, they are putting on a community theater production of A Christmas Carol to mark the 100th anniversary of Dickens Days in their town. But the main leading actor has to drop out.
So, the story begins with the director Cassie, played by Brooke D’Orsay, contacting former classmate and Dickens native, Jake, portrayed by Kristoffer Polaha, to fill the role. Jake is an action movie star trying to land more serious roles in Hollywood.
Hallmark Channel Spoilers – Things Are Rough
Things are rough between the two as they begin working together but, once they get involved with the production and take part in the holiday festivities of Dicken’s Days, they begin to develop a friendship.
Cassie ultimately must show Jake that he can take on more serious, meaningful roles as a lead actor. For her part, Cassie learns from Jake that she’s better suited for the role of a teacher.
You might remember Kristoffer Polaha from starring roles in such films as Wonder Woman: 1984 (2020), Rocky Mountain Christmas (2017), and Dater’s Handbook (2016) to name but a few. Alongside Polaha we’ll see Brooke D’Orsay who has played roles in such feel-good films as Miss Christmas (2017), Christmas in Love (2018) and Nostalgic Christmas (2019).
