Hallmark Channel Versus GAC Family: Everything To Know About Upcoming Movies And Shows!

Hallmark Channel The Hallmark Channel has become known for its family-friendly programming. From its beloved Count Down To Christmas movies to charming series such as When Calls The Heart, viewers depend on Hallmark for G-rated entertainment. But recently, a newcomer to the TV line-up has lured some of Hallmark’s most famous stars over to its network.

What’s the GAC Family? And how is it competing with Hallmark? Find out all about the differences below!

GAC Spoilers – Media Makes First Major Move With Lori Loughlin

GAC stands for Great American Channels. GAC Media’s owner Bill Abbott previously served as the CEO of the Hallmark Channels’ parent business, Crown Media Family Networks. Abbott left Crown Media after a backlash in 2020, reports TV Insider. Since taking charge of GAC in June 2021, Abbott launched both GAC Family and GAC Living in September 2021.

But GAC Media didn’t impress observers until Abbott took a risk by giving Lori Loughlin the opportunity to return to TV. On December 18, Lori will star in Hallmark’s former series “When Hope Calls.” The role represents her first TV appearance since the college admissions scandal two years ago. That scandal resulted in a fine and a two-month prison sentence for the “Fuller House” alum.

Loughlin’s fans can watch her in the new season of “When Hope Calls” on the GAC Family channel. Most TV providers, such as AT&T U-verse, Comcast, COX, Dish, DirecTV, and Spectrum will carry that channel.

How Does GAC Compare With Hallmark?

Both the Hallmark Channel and GAC Media will feature Christmas programming this year. For instance, Hallmark will show its “Countdown To Christmas” movies. And the GAC Family channel plans to honor the winter holidays with, per its own description, “holiday-themed, family-friendly original movies and series.”

GAC Media’s “Great American Christmas” programming includes a “12 Movies of Christmas” marathon. The channel will premiere new movies every Saturday evening through Thanksgiving weekend. In the wake of the marathon, GAC will debut new movies on Fridays through Sundays, including holiday films on Saturday and Sunday nights.

But Hallmark seems determined to hold onto its own share of holiday viewers with its star-studded 2021 lineup! With more than 40 new Christmas films on its slate this year, Hallmark may turn this holiday TV season into a game of Survivor. Familiar faces starring in Hallmark’s movies this year are Lacey Chabert, Holly Robinson Peete, Peter Gallagher, Jordin Sparks and Erin Cahill.

However, GAC Media has succeeded in recruiting some former Hallmark stars to cross over to its side. Among those actors, stand-outs include Danica McKellar, Cameron Mathison, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Chad Michael Murray. Add in the incentive for many fans of Lori Loughlin to check out GAC Media, and it appears the new network has a fighting chance!

Not sure if we will be able to get this as we live in Canada. Would love to have both channels Love all of the Hallmark movies that we do see on the Women's network. I am happy to hear that Lori will be back to Hope Valley.

I'm happy about GAC. I haven't been very happy with the direction that Hallmark has been heading lately. Plus there are now much more Christmas movies to watch and a lot of them with the same actors. Can't wait.

I think there is room for both channels. Not all the movies reflect the same themes. Stars should be allowed to make which movies they want on either channel. I am looking forward to watching an exciting season. @
