Hallmark Channel News – Candace Cameron Bure Teases 10th Xmas Film For Hallmark
Would it really feel like the holidays without watching at least one Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel? We can’t answer that question because we make it a tradition! And fan favorite Candace Cameron Bure seems to feel the same way. This busy actress always makes time in her schedule to star for Hallmark’s Xmas films.
For her 2021 Christmas movie, Candace Cameron Bure decided to reunite with her co-star John Brotherton from “Fuller House.” And as she told E News, she feels both joyful and pressured to produce a winner for Hallmark Channel’s beloved Countdown to Christmas programming event. Hallmark has honored that tradition since 2013, premiering a new movie featuring Candace on the Sunday of Thanksgiving week.
Cameron Bure explained that she sets herself two goals each year for her Christmas film. The actress wants to produce and star in a movie that delights fans and delivers solid ratings for the network. “I want to produce a great film that people are going to love and want to watch over and over again and look forward to it every Christmas season,” Candace asserted.

The Hallmark Channel treated viewers to a sneak peek of Candace Cameron Bure’s new Christmas movie on its YouTube channel. As a result, fans flocked to see it, praising the star for her acting skills. “Instant Classic Hallmark Christmas Movie,” one viewer gushed. “Charming.”
But while Candace makes her appearance in “The Christmas Contest” seem effortless, behind the scenes she definitely gets stressed. As Cameron Bure began work on her tenth Christmas movie for the Hallmark Channel, she looked for ways to make it unique while incorporating the elements for which Hallmark movies have become known.
“This being my 10th Christmas movie for the Hallmark Channel, you do try to make them as different as you can, while still staying in the framework of a Hallmark movie,” summed up Candace. “So there’s always pressure to not have a repeat story; the repeat beats, the same tropes that you can fall into with a Hallmark film. There’s pressure, but I’m very aware of what those elements are and try my best to make it fresh and new every year.”
Candace Cameron Bure’s 2021 Christmas Movie Feels So Special
In looking back at her recently aired 2021 Christmas movie, Candace now says that co-starring with John Brotherton became her favorite part. Portraying exes competing in the same Christmas contest, the film weaves comedy with romance. And the co-stars’ background on a sitcom turned the comic elements into a highlight.
“We balanced the comedy out at the end because there’s a lot of heartfelt moments in this one as well. So again, I adored this movie,” summed up Candace. And the actress also hinted at what her Christmas movie might be in 2022. “The Christmas Contest” seems like a natural for a sequel! “And I thought, ‘Oh, this is perfect,'” added the actress.
