Luckily, they’re not only getting called out for it, they’re getting sued for it. Grab my popcorn, things are about to get popping.
Age Discrimination Lawsuit Claims Hallmark Executives Want Younger Talent To Replace Fan-favorite Stars
Penny Perry, 79, is taking a stand against the unjust power trip going on inside Hallmark’s walls. The casting director, who has been with the network for nearly a decade, filed the age discrimination lawsuit on Oct. 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court.
In it, she detailed how defendants Hallmark executive VP of programming Lisa Hamilton Daly, Senior Vice President of Programming and Development Randy Pope and Vice President of Human Resources Paul Hodgkinson would engage in wrongful termination, age and disability discrimination, defamation, retaliation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
In the filing, she accused Hamilton Daly of working to push her out of her job on the count that she was “too old to work in her position.” She says the company’s new initiative is to find “new talent.”
“We need to bring in someone who knows more young talent,” the executive allegedly said of Perry, as she claimed in the suit. “Our leading ladies are aging out.” She also noted that Hamilton Daly specifically cited Robinson Peete, 60, Chabert, 42, Teri Hatcher, 59, and several more as the talents that are now “old” and need to be replaced for that reason.
“Lacey’s getting older and we have to find someone like her to replace her as she gets older,” Hamilton Daly allegedly told her, further adding that “no one wants” Robinson Peete. “She’s too expensive and getting too old. She can’t play leading roles anymore.”
What Hallmark Channel Has To Say About the “Age Discrimination” Lawsuit
In what is an unprecedented move for the network, they speedily replied to the allegations in a statement, saying, “Lacey and Holly have a home at Hallmark. We do not generally comment on pending litigation. And while we deny these outrageous allegations, we are not going to discuss an employment relationship in the media.”
Lacey Chabert will star in an upcoming Netflix holiday movie titled, ‘Hot Frosty,’ and fans can’t wait for the fun and magic to begin.

Shame on Hallmark. Lacey is the best actress thy have. Good in all her movies. Her movies are the
only ones I buy when they are released. Still waiting for Avery and Roman’s Christmas Wedding.
Surely Hallmark writers can come up this.
